Wedding Party

I'm curious...again.

Where did all the old married hags go on their honeymoons?

Where are you planning to go on your honeymoon?

I don't think we have ever talked about this. Just wondering.

PS - By old married hags I mean the regulars! Wink

Re: I'm curious...again.

  • Our honeymoon was a bit splintered.  We stayed in Vegas for about four days after the wedding, then drove down to Phoenix and stayed overnight.  We had a couple of days back in SoCal before we had to go back to work, so we just kicked back.  We went into Disneyland at one point.

  • We just decided on a cruise to the Bahamas. We spend 4 nights at sea and will visit Nassau. We just signed up for snorkeling and feeding stingrays...excitement!

  • We went on a Western Caribbean cruise.  Ours stops were Belize, Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Roatan.
  • We're going to Mexico later this year to an all inclusive resort.  We decided we'd rather go somewhere warm when it's cold here instead of going somewhere warm when it's hot here. :)

  • We went to the mountains for a couple nights.
  • Don't know if I'm a reg, but I guess I'm an old married hag now.

We went to Cozumel for a week. It was fantastic. We did not want to come home.

Oh, then you have to go! It was great. We had been to Mexico before (Mayan Riviera) and wanted some place new. It definitely has more of an island feel to it. We rented a Jeep and went downtown and to the windward side to eat at Coconuts, which is an experience. We saw alligators and one of the lighthouses. They also have some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving. It was amazing.

  • Well... I'm not a reg, but I post in here sometimes. FI and I are planning a trip to London for the 2012 Olympics.

  • Apricot- That sounds like such an awesome honeymoon!  I love the Olympics and was close enough that DH and I were able to go to the ones in Vancouver!

Definitely book way, way, way in advance.  Most of the hotels in Vancouver had been book about a year in advance.

Do you have any events that you want to go see?

  • We went to Maui for a week.  It was amazing.  I daydream about it most every day and that trip was over a year ago!

Apricot- that sounds like the perfect honeymoon!

  • We are going to Disneyworld duing the Food and Wine Festival. I'm just a *little* excited about it.

Plus, I'm surprising Rick with the Nascar racing experience, and I can't wait to see the look on his face. We will be there for 10 days.

Blackfire- We were given a timeshare condo from DH parents as our wedding gift and were in Kaanapali (North West side of the island).  It wasn't very busy around us so it was perfect!

  • We froze our butts off in Disney World right after the wedding, lol. Seriously, our warmest day was 37 degrees. But, hey, it's a story.

We woke up the morning after, dropped his tux off with my parents (Who had to return my dad's and my brothers' anyway), threw the bags in the car and drove off. It's a little less than a 2 day drive from where we live, and after the insanity of the wedding and Christmas, it was really nice just being in the car together, just the 2 of us, enjoying the peace and quiet.

Costa Rica!  We had to wait until Christmas to do it (we got married last July) and it was totally worth it.  One of the most beautiful places we have ever been to, and DH and I have been to a lot of places in this world!  DH has decided we're retiring there :)

ETA: We did do a short mini-moon to Lake Tahoe right after the wedding for about 3 days (it was all we could afford at the time).  And that was really nice to have that alone time right after the wedding.

  • Mags: I've always wanted to do WDW's Food and Wine Festival, I really enjoy the one at DCA.  Be sure to eat and drink around the world (that's consuming at least one item of food and one of alcohol at each pavillion in a single day), it's supposed to be a blast!  I've only been to WDW once and I wasn't legal yet, but we're definitely setting aside a day to do that when DH and I finally get to go.

  • Getting married in a few months.... we knew we couldn't go right away because our wedding is around the holidays, but I think I've talked him into doing 3-4 smaller trips over our first year married.  So we'll have like a 4-day cruise, we want to check out Maine in the summer, probably Vegas at some point.  There were a lot of places we wanted to go and many things to see, so I said why not split it up into a few trips.  We'll probably need the break from work and I, personally, get bored being on vacation too long.
  • We went to Aruba. It ticked all the boxes (new country for both of us, only one-stop flight, beach but other things to do beyond just lying on the beach), and we really enjoyed it.
