Wedding Party

Khaki Tux and LBD's? kinda long...

First let me say that our colors are fuschia, orange and grass green! Our ceremony is outside and our reception is also outside in a tented courtyard. The problem... From the moment I was engaged I knew I wanted to let my girls pick their own little black dress and of course when I told them that they were thrilled. We are having 2 jr bridesmaids that will both be wearing white taffeta dresses that have little black flowers and fuschia bows($20 from target btw). Can the guys wear Khaki tuxedos with the girls wearing black? My fiance finally showed some interest in the planning and picked the "champagne" tuxedo, which I love, and now some of our family members are saying "didn't you say the girls are wearing black?" I'm thinking it will be fine because they are a light khaki and it has a nice casual feel to it. We also have 3 ringbearers. Also...fiance is loving the flip flop idea for the guys...I know I would actually have to see this all put together before is say yes or no, BUT, Is the rule no flip flops with tuxedos even if it's "champagne"? lol Should we just skip renting tuxedos all together and BUY khaki pants and white charlie sheen shirts or khaki suits? I would have never guessed the guys attire would be the thing to stress me out! TIA!

  • The men should complement the women; they by no means have to be matchy-matchy. The goal is for the men to look good, not look like the BMs' accessories. I would do khaki suits with flip flops rather than champagne tuxes.

  • The groomsmen don't have to match the bridesmaids completely. However, to keep things looking unified try to incorporate some of the colors the bridesmaids will be wearing into the guys' outfits or vice versa. I don't think I would do flip flops with tuxes even if they are champagne. It isn't the color of the tux that gives it it's formality, instead its the cut. If your wedding is outdoors and the groom really wants to wear flip flops maybe you could have the groomsmen wear khaki suits instead.
  • Thanks ladies! I feel much better! I like the idea of the suits even though that means they have to spend a bit more.
  • As long as they're okay with spending more, you're in good shape :)

  • Khaki suits sound fine - just make sure that this is OK with the GM.  If you're cool with the ladies each in their own LBD, I'd say that it also needs to be cool for the GM to be in the khaki suit of their choice.  This way they can scope out sales at Men's Warehouse or Burlington Coat Factory if they opted not to look in department stores.I also have to echo the PPs.  Flip flops with tuxes are a no no.  If you feel like doing a few posed shots with the guys in bare feet it could be cute but I don't think flip flops are a great idea at all.
