Groom & Groomsmen Attire

Re: Groom & Groomsmen Attire

 • Basic black suits always look good. I wouldn't do the khaki/white against a dark grey suit--the groom will look much more formal. I wouldn't worry about the groom "standing out"--he's the one getting married, of course he will stand out. My DH wore the same getup as the GM and my father and everyone managed to figure out who he was ;)

 • I think that khaki pants wouldn't look right next to a charcoal suit. Not only because of the difference in color, but a suit is a lot more formal than khaki pants. I would either have them all in charcoal/black, or all in khaki, not a mix. How about dark pants with dark vests, white dress shirts in ties? That way, the groom's more formal than the groomsmen because he's the only one in a jacket (although I agree with PP that the groom will "stand out" no matter what). But everyone is still on the same basic formality level. I'm thinking along the lines of the wedding party in that YouTube video that was circulating last month. The groom was in a full suit with a vest, the groomsmen wore the vests with no jackets, and the ushers just wore the shirts and ties. Here's a pic of them, except visualize black or charcoal instead of the tan: http://www.jkweddingdance.com/

 • What about asking the GM to buy or rent a charcoal or navy suit? I agree that it's best if they match the groom's formality.
 • How about asking the guys to wear black dress pants they already own a white shirt and a tie to match the wedding colors.
 • I'm thinking guys in black or dark grey dress pants and white shirts. They could also do black/grey suits, but it makes it a little more formal. They can certainly wear those things again, so they probably won't mind if they have to go out and buy them. Then get them all matching ties.
