Wedding Party

bachelorette party in NYC

We are looking to have my bachelorette party in NYC. We are looking to go from a friday to a sunday. What things are reccommended to do? The problem is- is we have a budget. Are there any really good priced hotels Approx early to mid June? What about things to do? Decent clubs?
Any info/suggestions will help!
Thanks!

Post this on the NYC board. You may get better answers there.

I actually live in NYC and I don't know a thing about the hotels here. Maybe check out yelp? If you're on a budget, why are you coming to one of the most expensive places on earth?! lol

Oh, and June is tourist season and the summer so the prices will be increased.

Lastly, if the B party isn't until June, don't even worry about it now. And if you're the bride, please stop helping out with the planning. It's not for you to plan.

  • That sounds like so much fun!! I live on Long Island in NY but we head out to the city often. I like the Garden City Hotel alot. They have a great bar and restaurant and in June you can go out on the roof. The W hotels are nice too but may be pricey. You can always go hang out at their bars though. Each W hotel has a different bar. The wet bar and whiskey blue are my favorites. Right around the corner from the wet bar is a bar/club called cherry which is cool. Its loungy.

There is a cool martini bar but I can't remember the name of it..it is by 73rd and 1st...which my favorite restaurant is right across the street Petaluma. Very reasonable pricing and great food. petalumarestaurant.com

I hope this helps! Have fun!!!
  • The Times Square Hilton is very nice and reasonable, I stay there whenever I overnight in the city. Great views from any room and centrally located.

For fun cheap stuff: you can usually find broadway tix cheap right before the show in times square at the tix booth. Ripleys believe it or not is a bit more expensive, but awesome. Museum of Natural History has the best planetarium ever... Wow, I just realized I'm such a dork... Also, ride on The Beast in the summer, a fast speed boat that goes to the statue of liberty and back.

    Fashion district shopping rocks.

Food: I LOVE serendipity III cafe. Frozen hot chocolate. Done.

Hope that gives you some ideas!
  • Clubs tend to have such a short shelf life so that what's hot now may not be hot next June.  I suggest reading local magazines (eg: Time Out New York or New York Magazine) or blogs to find out about interesting parties closer to the actual date.

Some common b-party activities here are karaoke, male review, champagne brunch.  I know there are a few places in the meatpacking that have fun all you can drink brunches with a vibe that's more party than brunch spot.
  • I don't know about clubs.  Broadway is my idea of a good evening in NYC.  I love the aquarium and the Bronx Zoo.  It's crowded when it's hot, but Jones Beach has some nice waves.  Be aware that the water is pretty cold though.
  • My bachelorette was at a comedy club in NYC, on Mulberry Street. But I'm from New Jersey so we just took the PATH train into the city.

If you can't find a cheap hotel in the city, consider staying in Jersey City or Hoboken and take the train over to NYC. In JC there's the Westin, a Doubletree and a Marriott right by the train station (my guess is that the Doubletree will be the cheapest of the three). There's a new W hotel in Hoboken that's a short walk from the train and the ferry into the city.
