RSVP slackers

Maybe this is a better question for the p&e board, but I'm not a fan of that board. What are you all doing about people who slack on RSVPs? How many efforts are enough until you can just cut them off the guest list? For the ones who never ever respond, not even to phone calls or anything, do you still include them and expect that they will just show up? Our RSVP deadline was 09/02/09. For all the slackers, I have called, emailed, text messaged or a combination of all three. What are y'all doing about these slackers? They are killing me!!

I had A LOT of those.  Some were family who I knew were coming.  Others were friends who I really wasn't sure about.  I pretty much just guessed.  Even w/ my guess, I still ended up paying for more people than ate.

Did you stalk your slacker guests? I SO cannot afford to be off on my numbers..I know none of us can afford that! I'm wondering how much stalking of my guests is enough before I just say screw it. Is it rude if I consider a non-response from my guests (after I have totally made efforts to get a response) a "no." I really can't afford to consider it a "yes." man this stuff is so complicated...why can't people just RSVP?!!?! I gave my guests like 4 different options on how to RSVP.

It is not rude at all (unless you've heard from someone else that they are coming) to consider no RSVP's to be "no"s.  Also, low-ball your catering estimate.  I low-balled mine and STILL had enough no-shows (that's right, people who RSVPed "yes" but didn't come) that I paid for more people than I fed.

oooh that's evil to RSVP yes and then not show up...especially when they probably knew you guys were doing everything on your own. Thanks for the official pardon on considering my slackers a "no" RSVP. I will no longer stalk my guests and if anybody decides to put in a last minute RSVP before I give my numbers to the caterer, I will include them.

I just assumed those that didn't RSVP were no's. I didn't include them. It's typical to not hear back from everyone - almost 20% give no response. We also had a lot of people not show up. I think you're safe to assume about 10% of your yes responses to not show.

Thanks Allison! I am totally freaking out about it. It's so soon!! I'm sure we are both going to have a wonderful day. Are you stressing about rain like I am or is your wedding indoors?
