downtown ceremony sites

hi everyone, My fiance and I have been looking like crazy at sites all over san antonio for wedding ceremony and reception. we have some places downtown that we were considering. i especially like the Westin at Riverwalk for a reception. But the problem is where could we have a ceremony that won't be too far away from downtown? I'm not Catholic, so I don't think I could use San Fernando Church. And I really like the King William and Monte Vista historic districts, but I don't think they have locations big enough to accommodate. Any ideas? I'm kind of getting tired of looking everywhere. The wedding will only be about 60-75 guests. And any ideas of non-demonational pretty churches would help. Thanks ladies! P.S. any suggestions of places anywhere in san antonio would be helpful. I think I've exhausted all the websites in the San Antonio weddings magazine, haha!

The church at King william should accomodate that many guests.  Also the little church at La Villita, and the Spire at Sunset Station.

Thanks irishdancer! I've been overlooking the Little Church at La Villita, but I think I'm going to go check it out. And I had no idea about the Spire at Sunset Station. Thanks so much!

I don't know if you are looking for an indoor venue, but we are using the King Williams Park, which has a gazebo. You could rent chairs, and it's CHEAP. Like $80 for 4 hours for the park itself. Just an idea...

Thanks for the reply finduillas. I love King Williams District! How did you find out about the park? And is there a website I could go to for pictures and who to call? Thanks!

There is a plaza directly on the river at the IBC bank on Travis Street. I don't think the rental is that much.

Would there be a problem having the ceremony at the same place as your reception? You could do an outside ceremony at a hotel that has a nice view of the  city skyline or perhaps they have a garden you can use. If you do that I wonder if you could get some sort of package deal. This is assuming that you don't want a church setting. :)

Just remember to have a plan B if you do use an outdoor ceremony site. I wanted to have my ceremony outside at one of the the nice, inexpensive gazebos, rent the chairs, etc. If I would have done that, my entire ceremony would have been rained out because it POURED rain before, during, and after the ceremony. Have a plan B.

wow! thanks for all the tips ladies! To answer everyone's questions. I do not mind the ceremony and reception being at the same location. It's just that out of the hotels we looked at downtown, I really liked the Westin at Riverwalk and I would rather have the ceremony somewhere else as opposed to just setting up in one of their meeting rooms. And, no, it doesn't have to be a church setting. And slharbi94 , do you know the name of this plaza? maybe I can look them up on their website. I always like to get a feel of places by looking online first. Thanks again everyone!

you should look into the international center a/k/a la orilla del rio ballroom.   http://www.sanantonio.gov/riverwalkballroom/we really liked this place, and you could get married on the patio and then have the reception in the ballroom.  it's right on the river too.  i would have had our reception here if the river wasn't going to be drained during the week of our wedding!

Monica08 thanks for the link to the gazebos because I really couldn't find anything on the King Williams Park. And also...I had no idea those pictures were of your wedding! I thought it was an inspiration board from pictures you'd found. It's gorgeous. Where was your ceremony/reception? And the photographer is amazing!

Oh, I think you misunderstood me. I was able to find the link to the Kiing William Gazebo (thanks for that by the way!) I was just wondering where your ceremony/reception took place since your pictures were so pretty. : ) Hope I didn't just cause more confusion, haha!

Oh ok, sorry, I did misunderstand you. Long day!Ceremony was at The Little Church at La Villita (non-denominational) and my reception was at The Crystal Room. The church holds about 80-90 and the hall holds up to 150, but we only had about 110.My wedding was very inexpensive- we came out right under $9K. Hope this helps!

I can't believe you spent under $9K! That's amazing. I hope I'm as good as you in my planning and budget. Well done! My wedding is going to be under 100 people, anywhere from 65-75 people. Thanks for all the tips!

Not sure what your budget is, but yall should look at the Weston Centre. Kat who is the events person there is Awesome to work with and for $6500 total you get tables, chiavari chairs, floor length table linens and napkins also 2 security guards that also includes all taxes and fees. They have colored linens now too soo thats a huge savings, you should look into it its beautiful and they have a place outdoors by a waterfall thing to do the ceremony or you can do it indoors too, but I love it!! Thats where we are having our ceremony and reception.
