how many bridesmaids??

I am trying to decide how many bridesmaids to have.  I definitley am having my two MOH's which are my best friends and I want to include my three sisters, but if I have them I feel I will have to have my step-sister to keep the peace and at that point, my fiance's sister as well.  So it's either 2 or 7!   If we were having a large wedding I would go with the 7, but we are only planning on having about 100 guests...Help!  I really want my sisters, but they have all three assured me they are okay either way.
Any suggestions?

  • I always vote to include family in the WP unless there's a really good reason not to (i.e. attempted murder).

I agree with this. I always figure that including family in the wp goes without saying. The choice is ultimately up to you though, and it looks like you've been given good advice in this thread.

  • I had six attendants on my side, with 40 total guests.  One isn't related to the other.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • You could have 6, and have your FSIL on your FI's side if he wants her in the WP.

Lol.  This made me giggle while drinking my morning coffee at work.  :-)

Anyways though, I do agree that family should be included.  I usually draw this line at sisters though unless you or your FI has an unusally large amount of them.  I have some close girl cousins but couldn't include all of them because that be a ginormous WP.

I think smaller/intimate is better and easier to manage.
  • I'm having 9 on each side.  Have as many as you want.  Who cares about what everyone thinks.   It's your wedding!
