Wedding Party

gifts for bridesmaids... what are you'll giving??

Just wondering what I should get as a token of my appreciation for all my bridesmaids... I was thinking a personalized canvas tote... but I'm not really sure what to put inside.... any suggestions...

TIA

  • Do not personalize them. Who wants to carry around a bag with their names on it?! No one. Get them something personal to each bm. They don't have to get the same thing. Shop for them like it's their birthday or xmas.

  • Ditto Stina, shop like it's their birthday.  Check out Stina or my bio for our gifts.  Other gifts from the regs include dvd's, cookbooks, Brother's Grimm book, etc.

  • I remember some other regular on here got one of her bridesmaids a sword....like, a real sword. And she got another one dragon statue or something.

  • That's me Stina!

Also, you are really far from your wedding and it is really early to think about this.  Don't ask your WP until you are about 8 months away from the wedding.  Relationships change and there are many examples on this board of brides that wish they had waited and not asked certain people.

  • haha, ok, I am glad that I now know who it is. I use you for all kinds of examples. I still think my fave gift to our WP was the pickle of the month club to the best man who LOVES pickles.

  • Hey, you can find almost ANYTHING as a "of the month" club. My friend is a part of the bacon of the month and the cheese of the month clubs!

  • My university makes cheese and has it's own Cheese of the month club.  MIL has hinted that she would be interested in that, but it's $100 for 3 months, so no.

  • I just found a popcorn of the month club AND a movie of the month club where they send the recipient a tob of popcorn, movie sized sweets, and a gc to blockbuster.

  • Post a link Stina!  That sounds really cool and I know a few people who would like that!

Also, the weather can't decide what it wants to do here and has been sunny/cloudy/windy/snowy/hailing randomly through the day.  It just started snowing again.

It's  a little pricey, (30 bucks a month) but I LOVE the idea. Who doesn't like movies?

  • I totally want a membership to the bacon of the month club...I love bacon...lol
  • I caved and told FI about it.  I'm not sure that we're even exchanging wedding gifts, so maybe I'll save it for his birthday.  For Easter he experimented with a brown sugar and cayenne glazed bacon, it was sooooo good.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

    ....I want bacon. RIGHT NOW.

  • Oh my gosh you guys, I'm a little hungover, and I would like every month's worth of bacon and cheese delivered to my office NOW.

OP, it's too early to have picked your WP, so technically you can't know what your future BMs will like because they might change :) Or if you've picked them, their tastes might change. Revisit this in a year. If in the end you think they genuinely want personalized totes (which honestly, I feel like that's the kind of thing where if it's your style, you probably already have one), go for the monogram rather than the name. I do not need random people at the gym/library/beach knowing my name.
  • I got my girls each a vera bradley cosmetic bag medium size the colors go with their dresses and each is getting a cigar as a joke and a flask or a compact mirror personalized from things remembered

OP, I like J Crew and bacon of the month - what does that make me? Why are you giving yourself "props" for a pretty standard idea?

Also, it's fine that you really want to stick to your guns on this. Just, be sure to think of your girls as individuals and as a separate entity from your wedding. And, be careful with the wine glasses, it's kind of useless to have wine glasses in less than 4s, unless they go for eclectic. Which is all advice that has already been offered.
  • I purchased Chamilia bracelets for my girls and started each with a bead that suits their personality or interests. It was a little pricey but I think they will love them.
  • I actually received a monogramed tote for attending a destination wedding in FL and I use it everyday for my gym stuff and I'm sure that once the warm weather arrives I'll use it again for the beach!

I'm going to get my bridesmaids monogrammed totes from Lands End.  They're super cute light blue stripped with navy straps.  I'm still working on what to put inside, but each of them will receive some beach items and then the personal touch will be a fun piece of trendy jewelry that suits their personalities (not to be worn in the wedding).
