dress situation

Trying to figure out if I should give my girls an option between dresses to choose..... my MOH already has a different dress than all of the girls will have.... any suggestions???

Re: dress situation

  • If your BMs have different body shapes or senses of style, it's a great idea.  You can give them whatever criteria you wish - common guidelines include things like designer, fabric, color and length.  It can be "any black dress" or "choose one of these 3 dresses."

I don't get the point of having them in the exact same dress "just because." Especially if some (or even one) of them are clearly not happy about it.

However, I know that some bridal parties on here have said that they actually wanted to wear the same dress, and they worked together to pick one.

So I would just talk to them each privately, and see what they want to do and go from there. Especially if you have some girls who will just not be able to pull off the same look as other girls (very skinny or very heavy girls, very busty girls vs. flat-chested girls, drastic height differences, etc.).

I gave my two BMs a choice between three dresses from the same designer - they were the same color, length and fabric, but there were three different necklines and strap options to pick from. They each picked something different, and you really can't even tell in the pro wedding photos that it's not the exact same dress (one picked a scoop-neck with thick straps, and the other picked a v-neck with slightly thinner straps).

  • I always vote for the greatest flexibility and number of options.  I gave my BMs the option of different dresses; they opted to all wear the same dress, and it looked great on all of them.  However, they all have more or less the same body type, so it worked out.  If your BMs have very different body types, it would be nice to offer that to them so that they wear outfits that make THEM look good.

  • Ditto PPs.  If you check out my married bio, you can see pics of my girls in different dresses.  It was the same designer, color, length and fabric, but they picked their styles, and it looked lovely.
