Wedding Party

Twice as many bridesmaids

When my fiance and I initially discussed our wedding party, we decided to have 5 attendants on each side. However, that left my side as all family, and it really bothered me not to include my particularly supportive friends. Now I've decided to add 3 friends to my side, and one of the groomsmen knows he can't be there. I wouldn't mind if we were a couple people off, but at this point I'll have 8 and my fiance will have 4, and the bridesmaids are wearing red, which I know is a loud color. Will it look ridiculous?

Re: Twice as many bridesmaids

  • Why would it look ridiculous? I don't see how included beloved friends and family could ever be ridiculous.

And more importantly, why do you care how things look? As long as the people you love are up there with you, that's what counts. If there are any guests there saying, "Ew, the wedding party isn't even, how stupid," then they just suck at life.

  • i am having 10 bridesmaids (six family 4 friends) and hes having six groomsmen. i thought about only having family for my bms but i didnt think it was fair to my friends knowing that i will be in their weddings. i  thought it might look silly having 4 extra girls, but i dont care anymore its my wedding right?
  • I've been in/at several weddings were the MOH and BM stand up with the bride and groom and the rest of the WP sits in the first row (esp. in Catholic ceremonies that may take an hour).  That would definitely minimize the "lopsidedness."  Although honestly, neither you nor your guests will notice or care.  This is one of those things that seems like a big deal before the wedding but really it makes no difference.
