Was there a house in your neighborhood that gave out awesome candy on halloween?  YES.  The rich people down the street gave out king-size candy bars.  KING SIZE.

How long would you stay out? We trick or treated in the afternoon after school until it got dark.  It was only after I went to college that I found out this isn't normal.

What was the last year that you went trick or treating? Hmm.. middle school some time.  Maybe 8th grade?  I started being a "pedestrian" every year and that got old with the candy-givers.

Your favorite costume ever: The first Halloween I can remember being very final about what I wanted to wear was when I was six.  I wanted to be a purple fairy princess.  My mom made the entire outfit by hand.  She rocks.

Aside: What's with the towns who make trick or treating a day other than Halloween?  I don't like it.

  • Was there a house in your neighborhood that gave out awesome candy on halloween?
There was an entire street that handed out full size candy bars or $1 bills
How long would you stay out?
Pretty much until trick or treating ended at 10:00

What was the last year that you went trick or treating?
I kept going with my younger brothers until I was maybe 13.

My mom made me a jack in the box outfit one year.

  • Was there a house in your neighborhood that gave out awesome candy on halloween? My neighbors who my family was really close with. They would make us all little Halloween bags of candy with our names on it. Sometimes there were popcorn balls. Mmmm. They were the best.

How long would you stay out? A couple of hours. You would never know what the weather would be like. It was usually freezing cold, rainy and windy, so my mom would take me out for maybe an hour or so. There was one year where the weather was perfect. We hit the whole neighborhood that night. I was rolling in candy.

What was the last year that you went trick or treating? I was a freshman in high school. I went with a group of friends, and when one guy asked us if we left the kids at home that night, we decided it was probably time to pack it in and not go trick or treating anymore.

Your favorite costume ever: Minnie Mouse. I had her polkadot dress and everything.

  • Stage - that's terrible!  I bet that was definitely a horrible night for you and your friends.  I'm glad the little girl was ok.

Was there a house in your neighborhood that gave out awesome candy on halloween? I grew up in the country so my mom would always take me and my brother to our grandma's neighborhood in another town to trick or treat.  I don't really remember any one house giving out cool candy.  When I was older, like jr. high, my mom would drop me off in town so I could trick or treat with my friends.  I do remember there was one house, and the guy worked for Pepsi so they would always hand out cans of soda.

How long would you stay out?  I don't really know.  8 or 9?

What was the last year that you went trick or treating?  8th grade or maybe freshman year of high school.

Your favorite costume ever:  This is a tough one.  I loved all of my costumes.  I guess I would have to go with Wonder Woman because I can remember wearing the costume all the time, even after Halloween.

Side note - when I was like 2 or 3, my mom made me an adorable scarecrow costume, but I refused to wear the hat and instead wore an orange pumpkin bucket on my head (remember when McDonald's gave out Happy Meals around Halloween in the pumpkin buckets? ya, it was one of those.)  So my mom has all of these pictures with me wearing a bucket on my head.

  • Was there a house in your neighborhood that gave out awesome candy on halloween? There were a couple in town in high school that did - people started giving out full size candy bars and m&ms.  And in high school we finally appreciated the apple lady's apples.

How long would you stay out? Maybe an hour to an hour and a half.  Trick or treating was only in town and the town was pretty small when I was a kid.

What was the last year that you went trick or treating? Freshman year of college.  We were not the only trick or treaters and the neighbors were pretty accustomed to and welcoming of it.  We also went junior and senior year of high school for fun.  Before that, elementary school.

Your favorite costume ever: I don't remember if it was 11th or 12th grade, but my friend and I found wool WWII navy uniforms at an antique store while on a bike ride.  My friend had to have them, so her mom went back and picked them up for us.  One of them fit each of us perfectly.  The really awesome part was that while trick or treating, we were getting history lessons from history buffs and veterans on what different decorations on the uniforms meant.
Was there a house in your neighborhood that gave out awesome candy on halloween?
Yeah! King size candy bars at one house! Woo-hoo!
How long would you stay out?
Basically until almost everyone had turned off their outside lights
What was the last year that you went trick or treating?
I went throughout high school, but when I went in high school I was trick-or-treating for the food shelf and collecting non-perishables.
Your favorite costume ever:
huh. Not sure I have a favorite. I did win a costume contest once...but I was only a baby, so I don't remember. My mom made me a pea-pod costume.  :)

  • Was there a house in your neighborhood that gave out awesome candy on halloween? I don't remember any particular house that gave out anything special...
How long would you stay out? Once I was old enough to go on my own, I'd go until I got tired and wanted to go home...we usually lasted until people stopped handing out candy though...
What was the last year that you went trick or treating? For myself? I think when I started high school...although last year I did have a couple of people give me candy when I was taking my kids out :)
Your favorite costume ever: I dressed as a "newsie" in 7th grade...I'd just seen the movie and I LOVE it, so I decided to make a newsboy costume...and it snowed and was slushy so I had to wear a heavy coat to cover it all :( (this was also when I met FI :) )
  • Was there a house in your neighborhood that gave out awesome candy on halloween? Yea! There was a house that gave out cans of soda. We went back a bunch of times:)

How long would you stay out? We would start around 4 and go until 9. Sometimes we started earlier:)

What was the last year that you went trick or treating? The last year I went trick or treating was when I was 14.

Your favorite costume ever: That's a tough one! I dress up every year and keep all my costums. It would have to be the Singing Bee or Madonna(like a virgin). Those two were awesome!
