Dress Drama

Is there any way to exchange a bridesmaid dress that shows up and is way to big and cannot be altered because it will never look right bc it is 3 sizes too big.  Altering it will completely make the dress look absurd bc it is draped in chiffon.  What is the rule at most bridal shops on this.

Re: Dress Drama

  • I guess i should mention this dress was not mine to begin with.  It was ordered for another girl who is no longer a bridesmaid and I was asked to replace her and I guess the bride did not want her to be out money.
  • Since it's too big because it was not ordered for you rather than a mistake on the end of the designer or bridal shop, doubtful.

<div>It really depends. I would just call and ask the store. Either way, you would probably have to order the right size and you may have to pay for a rush order.</div>

Wow. It was super nice of the bride to replace a bridesmaid and now she is letting you deal with this problem all on your own?

    Delightful.

If it's not the shop or designer's fault, then it's going to be difficult to get an exchange.
  • Ditto the others.  Since the shop is not at fault, they're probably not going to do much for you.  But it can't hurt to ask nicely.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
