Gifts for the Groomsmen?

My man and I are trying to brainstorm gifts for his groomsmen. He would like to make them personal and avoid little trinkets. While trinkets can be nice, most of us have been in enough that our supply of wedding trinkets has reached its max.

I plan to sit with him this weekend and brainstorm ideas based on each guy's hobbies/likes/lifestyle. In preparation for this brainstorm session, though, I just wanted to know if anyone has any spectacular, truly unique gift ideas for groomsmen.

So, do you?  I appreciate all ideas.

<div>This is a job MAINLY for him. I know that you're only trying to help him though. What do they like to do in their spare time? If they like movies, get them a netflix subscription. If they like a particular restaurant, get them a gc for that place.  Stop thinking about them as BP members and start thinking about them as friends. What would you guys get them for their birthdays?</div>

  • I wouldn't worry about being "unique." Just stick with stuff you know they will like.

If you can tell us what these hobbies/interests of theirs are, maybe we can help with specific ideas.

My husband got Oakley sunglasses for his two groomsmen.

  • I know, it is a job mainly for him. However, he has helped with the wedding above and beyond most other men. So, I want to help him out with this task.

For instance, one groomsman has recently starting running in timed races. He's running in one the day after our wedding, in fact!  I think it would be fun to get him something pertaining to this new hobby...I'm just not sure what.

We want to think of it based on each individual guy...I was just seeing if there were any genius ideas out there in general.

Thank you for the input though! Every piece of advice is helpful.

  • For the runner ... maybe an MP3 player; or new earbuds; one of those chips that goes in your shoe and you can time yourself with it, I think it coordinates with your iPod or something like that (I think Nike makes it, or Nike and Apple teamed up to make it); a gift card to get nice new running shoes or clothes; a wristwatch with a timer; a water bottle or hat to use for races.

  • Talk to their spouses.  DH had trouble with a couple of his guys, so he consulted the girlfriend of one and the wife of another.  If they aren't in a relationship, maybe a parent or sibling would have a good idea of 1) what they really want, and 2) what they already have.  For instance, someone might presume that a flash drive would be a good and useful gift for me, and while they are great, I have at least a dozen laying around the house and don't really need more, which my husband would be able to tell you.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Ditto pp's. Shop for them like it was their birthday. What are their hobbies and interests? Go from there.
  • I like the idea of getting the runner something like an ipod shuffle or something that he can use while running.

It really depends on their hobbies.

I have my gifts in my bio, but my gm are probably very different from yours.

  • FI got his GM skeleton pocket watches and they are actually pretty cool.  He did buy for all, but thought about it each of their likes prior to. He thought it may be something they did not have already and would be unique/remind them of the wedding.  He actually found them off Etsy and they are really cool!

  • While not unique, our gifts are personalized. we just bought gift cards for each of them to a place they would like. 2 to a hunting/fishing type store, 2 to best buy, one to finish line, and two to a local store that sells only stuff from their favorite college team.
  • One of our groomsmen really likes the show Dr. Who.  We got him a Dr. Who telephone box cookie jar (with sound effects).  Do these men have shows they really like to watch?  Maybe getting them a boxed DVD set would be just what they want.
  • Get the runner groomsmen a GPS watch...my fiance got it from his friend that got married in June....it tracks mileage, the time and their split times...its pretty awesome!
  • We're doing Capcatcher Bottle Openers from http://www.capcatchers.com

FI and I think the guys are gonna love them!
