BM Hair and Makeup

Who pays for BM's hair and makeup? I have 7 bridesmaids and am worried about all the costs.  Is it rude to ask the girls to pay for their hair and makeup? If so, what about just paying for their hair and letting them choose whether to pay for their makeup  or just do it on thie own?

Re: BM Hair and Makeup

  • If you require them to get their hair and makeup done professionally, you should pay for it. Paying for their hair and letting them choose whether to pay for their makeup or do their own would be a fine solution.
  • I agree 100% with vm_andrews
  • If you require any of it then you need to pay.

But it's fine to say, "Hey I'm getting my hair and makeup done at X place and the cost is Y if you're interested in joining me."
  • I agree. If you require their hair and makeup to be professionally done then you should be the one to pay for it.
  • ditto pps.  Banana has given you great wording.

  • If money is an issue, let the girls do their own hair and makeup.

  • If you are requiring it, you have to pay for it. Simple as that. Even if you say "hey, pick your style", you really SHOULD pay for it.

Most people are quite capable of doing their own hair and makeup.

  • I'm going to include a $60 gift certificate in their gifts for their hair and if they want to get their makeup done its completely up to them.  The salon told me that their hair should only be about $50 each so, they'll have the extra $10 to put towards makeup or tip.

Nikki:  if you're requiring the hair, then you SHOULD be paying for it.  And frankly, a GC for hair on your wedding day shouldn't be part of their gift at all.  Because it's not a gift for them, it's a gift for you:  to have the "look" that you envision for your wedding.

  • I am going to be spending $100 each on them on top of the GC, its mainly for my high maintenance BM that may want the $120 updo that I am frankly not paying for!
