WP Tuesday!

How is everyone?

Update - I'm 36 weeks and 3 days! I'm UNDER a month until my due date!

And no one has made any offers on the condo but we are doing what we can to move. Please send vibes that we can close and move before Chiquitabanana is here!

So newbies, please come out and introduce yourselves. And regs, any updates?

  • Hi, banana! Good luck moving stuff and everything. And good luck with Chiquita! Sending you lots of health.

I really, really need to find a job. I still have over a month until graduation, but I'm starting to get really scared about this whole thing. Vibes for the job search would be very much appreciated.

On a positive note, I'm starting to make Christmas plans, plotting gifts and such. I'm so excited. Especially excited for the WP board Secret Santa =)

    Good Luck Banana.

Only update here is that we leave in two days for our second reception in San Francisco. The RSVP "yes" has now tripled the number of guests at our Philadelphia wedding. FIL was unable to travel for the wedding so he asked if he could throw a second reception for us.

I put photos from the wedding on table tents to go next to the centerpieces. Next is rolling up the wedding dress (Not a poufy princess strapless, can easily be worn again as an evening dress) to put in carry on luggage. I'm psyched to wear the shoes again though!!! Still trying to decide how to wear my hair. It was easy to decide with the veil - only so much I could do with it.

I'll be sending out good vibes for you. I too am on the job hunt-- it's tough out there. We are struggling with what I am making right now, and I hate the feeling of not contributing what I once was. I hope you find the greatest, most fabulous, most perfect-est (yep, I just made that a word) job out there

  • Wow, Banana! I can't believe it's that close. I feel like you just announced it for your "friend" who was going out to her birthday dinner! :-)

I'm watching Dancing with the Stars and fighting to keep my eyes open. I've hardly been around because work has been consuming my life, and by the time I get here, everyone has covered the "No you can't replace her/demote her/force her to wear lime green shoes" bases. Thanksgiving break is coming up in a couple weeks here, and since FI works in retail he'll pretty much be at work the entire time...so hopefully I'll have a breather (and some Knot time)!

I also can't believe it's so close. Now I just hope that we can move in before our baby is here - it would be so nice to come home to a house!

Thank you everyone for the great thoughts! And I'll send positive Knottie Vibes towards all the job seekers too!

  • Good vibes to banana and manwa and anyone else that needs them!

No big news from me this week, but I did just have a fairly freaky experience.

I went over to my mom's tonight to show her wedding pictures that I got printed. H is gaming tonight (dungeons and dragons), and when I got home, the garage light was on. H had left about an hour before that, and the light only stays on in the garage for about 10 minutes after the door is opened or closed. That kind of freaked me out.

I called H and asked him what I should do. He told me to see if there were any lights on in the house. I opened the door from the garage into the house, and the kitchen light was on. I told him that, and he told me to get back in my car, pull out onto the road, and he would be home in a few minutes.

He came home and we walked through the whole house and checked every room/closet/etc. All of our easily stolen items are still in their place (laptop, XBox, etc) All of the doors and windows are intact and locked, so I guess I freaked out for no reason, but it made me feel much better after we checked the house.

H went back to gaming, but I'm still kind of weirded out so I'm just sitting on the couch with all of the lights on in the house.

Sorry for the novel, but it was a fairly freaky experience, and I feel better sharing it.

  • Ugh, Frogurt, I hate stuff like that. Did he accidentally leave the kitchen light on or something?

  • He says he doesn't remember leaving the light on, but he's pretty bad about leaving lights on so it was mostly likely just him. Still no explination for the garage light, though.

It was just the combination of the garage light and the kitchen light both being on that freaked me out.

  • I can't wait to meet the Chiquita!

I have another 500 words to do before bed tonight, so I'm just making a quick pass through the boards before I buckle down to work. I'm running low on plot and I need to vamp a bit before the halfway point, so the next few days should be interesting.

I was a little freaked out to walk into Coffee Bean and be assaulted with Christmas. It's only November! Leave me alone! But my absolute favorite drink of all time ever is the peppermint mocha frappuccino, which I was really excited to have on Friday night. So I can't complain too much.

  • Please add me to the job seeker list...with holidays coming and FI's impending winter layoff, I really need to contribute to the funds...

In WR news, I spoke to the young adult minister at my church and asked if he'd be willing/able to officiate :) He will have to check his schedule and get back to me, but said he'd be happy to do it!

As far as NWR/NWPR events, my daughter was in a minor school bus accident last week...the driver hit/swerved to miss a manhole (the actual event is still being debated) and knocked DD out of her seat, causing her to hit her head on the back door. She had a mild concussion and since has been suffering from headaches, but her doctor assured me that it should only last a few days and put her on restricted activity as far as gym and recess. I'm giving her Tylenol and praying that the pain abates soon and that she doesn't have any long-term issues.

Unfortunately, according to PA law, she is covered under my car insurance, and we only have limited tort, so I can't do much legally. We have health insurance, so we also have no medical bills to need reimbursed. I've asked the bus company to put a different driver on that bus, but I'm seriously considering taking her out of the after-school program that she was riding home from when it happened. It took a lot to not demand the driver be fired.

I'm sending all kinds of positive vibes to the soon-to-be mommies, the job seekers, and everyone else...have a fantastic night and week! :)
  • Wow, Jamie, I'm sorry. I hope your daughter feels better soon!

I do have a question though: What do you think the driver should have done differently? There was a manhole, he swerved to avoid it. I don't know if I would have done anything differently as a driver. So I guess I don't know why you want the driver fired.

Sorry, maybe I should have elaborated on that...regardless of the circumstances of the incident, what upset me was that there was a police officer directing traffic nearby who'd heard the driver yelling at the students because they were being unruly...the officer got on the bus and the driver told her what had happened. Driver didn't report the incident immediately to the bus depot nor did she ask that medical personnel be called to check DD...she could have really been hurt. That bothers me. The cop wound up following DD home from the bus stop and talking to myself and FI and expressed that she was appalled by the lack of care by the driver. Several of my friends and family members insisted I have her fired for it...but I figured that changing the driver would be sufficient.

  • That's pretty appalling.
