AW: Oh hi, I'm, like, an Aunt again

Hey ladies,

Just poking my head in quick to announce that my older sister went into labor last night and as of 1:05 am, I have a new neice!

Her name is Grace (Middle name yet to be detemined), she weighs 2 lbs, and is 13 inches long. Her due date was July 18th, so she's a bit on the early side. It's sad because she's not allowed to come home for at least 2 months, and we know that things can literally change at any moment ... but the doctors have told us that she has all of her organs (Which apparently isn't always the case when they're this early), and right now she's doing as good as she possibly can. Any prayers and good vibes sent our way are greatly appreciated.

As of right now, Mr. Baby Daddy doesn't know, so my mom has put a ban on FB announcements just to give my sister a few days of peace and quiet. But I just had to announce it somewhere, because in spite of how tough the next few months are going to be on the family, I'm still really excited to be an aunt again!

Also, the hospital is an hour away, and I'm planning on visiting often, so I won't be around as much until she gets to come home. Sorry dudes, but seeing New Baby trumps schooling whiney beebees, lol.

  • Congratulations!  Grace is such a pretty name.  I'm glad she's doing as well as she can be for being early--definitely sending good thoughts and vibes in your direction.  When you're able to, I bet a lot of us would love it if you'd AW some baby pictures! Smile
  • Oh wow.  I'm glad that Baby Grace is going to be okay, that's so incredibly tiny!  I hope your sister is doing well.  Congratulations to your entire family, and welcome, Grace!

  • Congrats, Meg! Hoping she gets big and strong soon.
  • I haven't had a chance to see her yet ... though from what I've heard she looks a little bit like a chicken, lol. But as soon as I as get to, I'll be getting some pics, and you better believe I'll AW those.

  • OMG - Thoughts and prayers for your sister and new baby Grace!

I can't imagine having such a teeny, tiny baby.  Ever since Taryn was born it seems the preemie stories tear at my heartstrings.

    Congrats Auntie!

  • It's weird, yesterday was my Great-Grandmother's birthday (92 and fiesty!) and when the whole family was together (Including my other neice, whose 16 months-and now a big sister!), GG starting asking me when DH and I were going to have a baby. We were planning on waiting at least a year before even talking about TTC, so I tried to explain that, and she got all sad saying she didn't want us to wait too long ...

But then I said "Let's at least wait until new baby gets here before we worry about DH and I having one". Oops!

  • Meg, get a dog. It's the best comeback to the "so, are you having babies yet?" question...we just tell them Lola will remain an only child for a few more years.

Oh Gotta, she still is (Only 16 months!), so it's so weird to think of her as a big sister
... this is part of why I stay on The Pill and take it religiously. In my family, it seems that a woman just needs to think the word "Baby" and she's pregnant (My younger sister was born in March 1990, my brother was then born February 1991).

And I love that this baby is Grace. Originally, that's what my sister wanted to name Sophia, but Mr. BD wouldn't let her. He picked an awful name, and since my sister wasn't letting him have his first choice, he insisted she shouldn't get her first choice ... it was kind of a mess, and pretty much Sophia didn't have a name at all until literally they were leaving the hospital. But since, he doesn't want anything to do with this one, he doesn't get a say in naming it.

"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • Congrats Meg! That is awesome! I'll keep little Grace in my thoughts, and hope that she continues to do as well as can be expected. Smile
