Baby Bride or Troll?

Re: Baby Bride or Troll?

  • Don't know if you saw my response, but we have a thread on SB too right now.
  • Troll. I have to believe troll, otherwise I will have lost my faith in humanity.

I suspected troll when I saw the following information on her various threads:

    1. She got engaged at Red Lobster

    yet

    2.  Her dad is paying for everything and has given her a $10,000 wedding dress budget for Kleinfeld's

    when she is only

    3.  Eighteen

My problem is that she is on other boards giving terrible advice that someone may actually take.

There's way too much beebee-ness happening in her posts for it to be real.

  • Tricia, the boy did not just propose, he totally proposed at Red Lobster.

Actually, I never judge where proposals happen (Mine happened in my living room). But the "totally" just made me think "Um, have you graduated high school yet?"

Anyway. My main reasons for suspecting is just that according to the story she's given, she literally started posting within 2 hours of getting a ring on her finger ... that wasn't even enough time for the FMIL to "pass judgement" on them. And since her first post, she's been in like 10 different threads firing "your day!s" left and right.

I commented on her thread, but found this weird, too.  The only computer thing I did that quickly after our engagement was change my FB status.  After immediate family and close friends - it was the easiest way to let people know.

And that is what bothers me.  Most trolls stay under their bridge.  They don't go wreaking havoc all over the place.

I don't judge where proposals happen either but it was just another piece that didn't fit.
My proposal happened in the wine bar where we met but I don't think DH "totally" proposed to me.  Wonder if I got married without a real engagement.....

He was so nervous about having custody of the ring (he'd wake up in the middle of the night and check to make sure it was still in the bureau drawer) that he said it was a good thing I got the terminal for his flight mixed up.  My proposal was almost infront of the US Air counter at Cleveland Hopkins Airport.

  • I'm more bothered that she's giving bad advice to others.  That fish idea is NOT GOOD and she's the only person really firing back saying "It's an awesome idea and it doesn't matter if your guests are grossed out."
  • I joined Knot over 6 months after I got engaged (And I knew TK existed before I got engaged) ... I didn't start actually posting until about 5 months before my wedding (Which was almost an entire year after that). I'm not saying that what I did was "normal" ... but I just can't believe somebody had time to get engaged, finish those delicious cheddar biscuits, go to FMIL's house to give her the news, get told "You're way too young, I don't approve", find out her own parents are paying for the whole wedding, create an account and post on 4 different boards in the time span she's saying she did.

This - someone out there is going to be like, you know what? It IS My day! I'll do what I want just like greenturtle said.

I asked in the M&M thread if she was someone's AE or if it was MUD.

  • Although in the Fish thread, I'm way more bothered by the other chick "red- something or other" who flat out said "They're fish, it's not like they're kittens or babies or something" and then went on to say that having a fish tank in your house is essentially using fish as "decorations". Seriously?

  • Even if she's not a troll...she seems the kind of kid who probably is a daddy's girl, always gets what she wants, and will not listen to anyone who tells her that she's not 100% right...while it's nice to offer advice, she may be one to just let fall on her backside...even if she doesn't get married til 2012, she'll be 20...having been married at 20 myself and divorced by 24, I'm thinking it won't last long...and maybe she will learn that 18 isn't as grown-up as she thinks it is...
  • I haven't gotten to M&M yet (I basically go straight down the list when I check the forums, Moms and Maids is my next stop after WP), but I want to beat the girl from the fish thread over the head with my sig.

  • And...I'm on team troll now.  I just read the bridesmaid dilemma post where she says that guest book attendant, cake server, and program hander outer are all honors.  The only reason in the world to say that would be to piss everyone off.

I just use my cats as decorations.  They look cute, but I don't actually like them.  Other people also like to look at the cats when they come over.  They are kind of an expensive decoration, though.  You have to feed them, and get them water, and it's just annoying.

Totally kidding, of course, if anyone is wondering.  Of course I love my cats.

  • I'm on the fence.  Sadly, I could absolutely see a kid that young behaving that way.  But since she's wading in on other issues, troll or AE is very likely.

Well, if they're already giving her $10,000 just for her dress and paying for the entire wedding, it'd be pretty safe to assume they be giving her a fully stocked house as well.

I mean, seriously, anything less than that and her parents just don't love her.

  • Yup, pretty much everyone thinks this is a troll.

I read one of her threads this morning and I thought my eyes were deceiving me. Just wait until she makes her way over to E
  • If she really is a troll she might be avoiding E because she knows what it's like over there and might not be able to handle the flaming, even as a troll. Then again, that would be an epic thread.

  • I don't usually post on E, but PLEASE someone alert us if she posts there.  I wouldn't want to miss it.
