Some of you will remember that back in March, my younger DD and her roommate were victims of a violent crime. Police caught the guy still in their apartment, and since then we've been deeply enmeshed in the criminal justice system.
The girls have been through grand jury testimony, and the ups and downs of court dates, and a guy who did his best to play the system, even while admitting in open court that he did it.
Today, he accepted a plea that keeps this from going to a jury trial that was scheduled for next month. My DD and her roomie, who I love like a DD, won't be having to go through a trial. I have never felt relief like this.
Next step: sentencing. I imagine that will bring a measure of satisfaction.
