Re: WPBP of the day

  • What are you thankful for?(I know, repeat) Health, friends, and family.

Are you preparing anything today for tomorrow's meal? Nope.

Any traditions that you have for Tday? Go to my aunt's at 9:30 a.m. for brunch, then my parents' house for dinner in the afternoon.

Something you hope will happen tomorrow: I eat everything I want without making myself sick.
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough. ~Mae West
  • What are you thankful for?(I know, repeat) My husband, my family, my in-laws, my sister being seizure-free for four months, our friends, our pets, the roof over my head, the job that I have, and the car that still works.

Are you preparing anything today for tomorrow's meal? Pies!

Any traditions that you have for Tday? Helping my mom cook a massive meal, catching up with my many cousins, watching part of the football game, and playing Christmas carols.

Something you hope will happen tomorrow: Snow would be awesome, but I wouldn't be on it.  It's cold in CT, but very sunny.  I also wish my sister would magically be cured of her epilepsy, but I wish that every day of the year.

  • What are you thankful for?(I know, repeat)
Are you preparing anything today for tomorrow's meal? When DD gets home, we're going to do prep...potatoes, baking the cornbread for the stuffing, probably cutting veggies that will go into stuffing...
Any traditions that you have for Tday? Nothing more than the usual...
Something you hope will happen tomorrow: That I don't break my FSIL's new nose when we visit with FI's family...and that food comes out as planned...
  • What are you thankful for?(I know, repeat) H, our families, our friends, my job, a roof over our heads, our cats, health, etc.  There are just so many things to be thankful for when you think about it!

Are you preparing anything today for tomorrow's meal? I'm going to bake a coffee cake tonight to eat tomorrow morning when my brother and his gf come over to watch the parade.  I might try to get my potatoes made today too so that tomorrow all I will have to do is pop them in the oven to warm them up.

Any traditions that you have for Tday? No traditions really, besides eating Turkey and other traditional TG foods.

Something you hope will happen tomorrow: I also want snow!  But unfortunately they have taken the snow out of the forecast for tomorrow where I live. boo.

  • What are you thankful for? My FI, dog and my wonderful family and friends!

Are you preparing anything today for tomorrow's meal? Nope, but hopefully the weather will be in our favor for driving to my grandparents' house- there's supposed to be nasty ice and snow storms :-(

Any traditions that you have for Tday? Not anything specific.

Something you hope will happen tomorrow: The weather will be nice to go see my grandparents, and that my BFF and I will be able to be crazy shoppers at black friday sales starting Thanksgiving night up at the outlet mall :-P

  • What are you thankful for?(I know, repeat)  My wonderfully supportive husband, and the fact that he gave me a ride to work this morning so I didn't freeze to death.

Are you preparing anything today for tomorrow's meal?  I'm making crab puffs.  I made them for SSIL's wedding, and now they're in high demand.  DH is making baguettes.

Any traditions that you have for Tday?  Not really, other than stuff myself silly.

Something you hope will happen tomorrow:  I hit my word goal for the day.  If not, I have the whole weekend to catch up, but I'd rather not have to.  I'm hoping to cross the finish line by Sunday night.

  • What are you thankful for?(I know, repeat)
    My husband, family and friends

Are you preparing anything today for tomorrow's meal?
The lemon cranberry cake.  I'm also going to try to get as much prep work done tonight as I can.

Any traditions that you have for Tday?
No.  This year though we are having a private Thansgiving.  We just got back from seeing DH's family in San Francisco and we'll be spending Christmas in Cincinnati with my family.  We're still cooking enough food to feed friends for a Thanksgiving leftovers dinner in a few days.

Something you hope will happen tomorrow:
DH agrees to putting up the Christmas tree tomorrow night :)

  • What are you thankful for?(I know, repeat)
I'm incredibly thankful for DH. I'm also thankful for my family-even though they drive me nuts.

Are you preparing anything today for tomorrow's meal?
Nope. We're just bringing a bottle of wine to each place.

Any traditions that you have for Tday?
Does getting really mad at my family for waiting until 2 days before to decided who's hosting count? Because I totally do that every year, lol.

Something you hope will happen tomorrow:
That nobody will bring up my great-grandmother's funeral at my family's tomorrow-or if they do, it happens after DH and I have left for SIL's. Because I know somebody will inevitably bring up the awful reading my crazy aunt insisted on, and it will turn ugly-I really should commission a camera crew for the holidays, I'd have the greatest reality show ever.

  • What are you thankful for? Everything. We're in a really good place right now as far as life goes.

Are you preparing anything today for tomorrow's meal? The whole shebang. We opted out of family Thanksgiving this year (we were supposed to go to H's grandparents' home, but the weather is supposed to be crappy and not a lot of H's immediate family will be there, so we're staying home).

Helga, the turkey, is fully thawed, ready for brining. I've got potatoes on standby to be prepared for mashing, cranberries waiting for their delicious fate, gravy fixings, stuffing prepped, crispy green beans at the ready, chocolate and pecan pies to be devoured and loaves of fresh sweet bread ready to roll. It should be deeeelicious.

Any traditions that you have for Tday? Not really. We usually just put up the tree at some point and time over the weekend, but nothing major for Thanksgiving.

Something you hope will happen tomorrow: That I don't curse too much while I'm making the turkey. I've studied up and I'm ready to go, but Helga is pretty fiesty for a frozen turkey.

I call this dinner theater in my family. With as high strung as one side of the family is, inevitably there is going to be conflict at every, single. gathering.  Watching meltdowns over things that don't matter is entertaining to me especially since this family has looked down on my branch my entire life because my mom married "down".  The other side is Irish and always spoiling for a fight - it sounds horrible but it really isn't; it's where I learned to argue and nobody holds grudges or gets personal.

Yeah, I'm sure it seems barbaric to name something before we eat it, but it had to happen. It's the first turkey I've ever cooked. It needs to be memorable.

  • What are you thankful for? A roof over our heads and food on the table.  6-8 months ago, I was scared about how everything would work out once we moved.  I still don't have a job in my field, but between my job and DH's TAship, we can get by.  And for DH being amazing about things like dealing with me having a bad day and becoming more confident in his cooking skills so he can make me dinner since I work at dinner time.

Are you preparing anything today for tomorrow's meal? So far no, but it's possible that there will be a last minute grocery store trip and we will make something.

Any traditions that you have for Tday? Not really, other than wishing I could eat Tday dinner with DH.  Which I get to do for the first time this year!

Something you hope will happen tomorrow: That DH's niece will remember us.  She's 4 and the only time she's seen us in the last 2 years was in March for a day and a half, so she might not.  But either way she's awesome, so it will be ok.
  • What are you thankful for?(I know, repeat) I am thankful for all of my many blessings, and esp for having a great husband. I am also thankful that while we will be away from our family and friends, we were invited to a friend from church's house for Thanksgiving. That means the world to us.

Are you preparing anything today for tomorrow's meal? I am making pumpkin bread to take over as well as carmel apple cinnamon cupcakes. I can't go over their without bringing something.

Any traditions that you have for Tday? Just spending the day with family and friends, watching football, playing cards, chilling.

Something you hope will happen tomorrow: I hope I don't gain any weight.
  • What are you thankful for?(I know, repeat)
I am so thankful that in this crappy economy DH has a great job that supports us both while I finish my nursing degree.

Are you preparing anything today for tomorrow's meal?
Pumpkin bites, green bean casserole, and cinnamon bread (for tomorrows breakfast).

Any traditions that you have for Tday?
I always watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

Something you hope will happen tomorrow:
The guys will offer to do the cleanup.

  • What are you thankful for?(I know, repeat) My FI and family, and having a warm place to live, and both of us having full-time jobs.  Very thankful for that.

Are you preparing anything today for tomorrow's meal? Nope.  FI and I are in the middle of moving, so there is nothing in our kitchen to prepare.

Any traditions that you have for Tday? Going to my parents for dinner.  Usually we go to FI's family later for a second dinner, but they had their Thanksgiving early this year so we won't have to travel in between.

Something you hope will happen tomorrow: I get called off working 4 hours Friday morning.  My fingers are crossed for that, but since that's pretty far-fetched, I hope this cold I just woke up with this morning will be gone.
