Candy corn

For all you candy corn haters, I just saw this recipe on Good Eats for an all-natural version, which looks amazing.  I kind of want to give it a try.  He actually mentioned on the show that it tastes much better than the commercial version, which is pretty much just cornstarch and wax.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

Re: Candy corn

  • Wax?  Wax!  I knew I was smart not to like candy corn.

Alton's recipe does look good, though... no candles in there.
  • Ooo, I saw that this week.  I really want to try to make them, but it looks like a pain in the arse.

I'll just go to the store.
  • Ooh, that looks interesting.  I wish I had a little more time to actually try that.

And ex BF had a theory that no new candy corn is made.  Someone just made a humongous batch a long time ago, and all the uneaten stuff is recycled year to year.
  • Making candy is kind of a bitch, not gonna lie.  But the homemade stuff is unbelievable.

  • I don't hate candy corn, but I do prefer the candy pumpkins - and I can't find them around here. Granted, I'm not searching too hard because of what it'll do to my waistline, but even so...
