Cousin hinting at being a bridesmaid...

Hi!

One of my many cousins has been obviously hinting at her desire to be a bridesmaid in my wedding- although I plan on asking her older sister (we're closer in age, have class together, and generally get along better)- I don't plan on asking her or her twin sister.

Part of me wants to just give in and ask all three of them so as not to offend anyone, but that will put my number of bridesmaids to 6 for a 200 guest wedding (4 seems just right?).  Not to mention, I get the impression that my said-cousin wants to be a bridesmaid not to support me and be a witness at the alter, but only to live vicariously through me.

Any suggestions?

Re: Cousin hinting at being a bridesmaid...

  • Thanks ladies, your opinion helps, because I can really relate to either side!

As far as "living vicariously"...goodness, this explanation is going to make me sound like a horrible person...she's a little vain and likes to be in the limelight; in the few times that I've seen her since our engagement, I get the impression that she's envious of my position.  Not that any of this bothers me to an extreme, it's just a little awkward when her interest sometimes seems insincere.
  • I have six bridesmaids and 40 guests.  So?
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
