Wedding Party

Junior Bridesmaid

I am 27 and my youngest sister is only 9.  I will be getting married next summer.  I am thinking about asking her to be a jr bridesmaid,  I already have my 3 daughters as flower girls and my 14 year old brother as an usher.  What is the role of a jr. bridesmaid? Undecided

I just don't want her to be left out <3

Re: Junior Bridesmaid

  • Why not make her a real BM but make sure she's in an age-appropriate dress?
  • Jr BM = BM.

  • A JR. bm is no different than a bm. Except that she probably wouldn't go to the B party.

  • I don't mind the title jr. BM for someone that age (and myself was a jr. BM until I was 12), although a lot of people on here say to just call her a BM. Just find her a dress in the correct colors that's appropriate for a 9 year old, and then she walks down the aisle and carries a bouquet just like everyone else. And it's fine to pair her with an adult GM for that walk, nobody will think it means anything beyond the fact that they're walking together for about 20 seconds.
  • What we are planning is to have the Goom and groomsmen already standing at the alter and have the bridesmaids walk alone, that way we don't have to worry about pairings.
