Wedding Party

Oh FB

This was the status of one of my friends. I'm tempted to ask what honorary groomsmen mean.

"To those dear friends I have asked to be in my lineup for the wedding... Jenn and I have decided to have a small wedding... we will have 4 groomsmen and 3 honorary groomsmen. Please don't think we are any less of friends!"

Seriously!  I'm thisclose to de-friending a girl I barely knew in elementary school who does a stream of consciousness update roughly every hour on the hour.  Problem is she doesn't lead an interesting life so her updates go roughly like this:<div>
</div><div>"Just woke up going to go feed the baby then DH is off to work hope it doesn't rain today."</div><div>
</div><div>"DH left for work baby is fed now fixen to go drop the kids off at school then gonna watch Regis."</div><div>
</div><div>"Fixen to take a nap now that the baby is napping lol hope I can do some laundry later."</div><div>
</div><div>And on and on and on.  Oh and I'm generously not retyping her phonetic spelling.  </div>

I have so many FB friends that do this and it drives me nuts.  I seriously need to do some FB friend deleting.  I've said for a while now that I'm going to post on FB with literally everything i do in a day.
"Just woke up and went pee."
"Walked downstairs and made a cup of coffee."
"Let the dog out and picked up his poop."
"Sat on the couch and am flipping through the channels."

And then carry on all day, just to see how many people get the point.

  • Yesterday was National Unfriend Day, you can celebrate it belatedly.  DH deleted nearly 200 people.

I don't mind the stream-of-consciousness stuff from people I'm really close to, like my sisters.  I enjoy knowing what's going on with them day-to-day, it makes me feel like they're not so far away.  But everyone else who does that can suck it.  I do a LOT of skimming of my news feed.

    Definitely send him here.  Oy.

  • Yeah aerin some people I don't mind, but I don't understand the point of telling exactly what your day is like.  Specific post: "work, tutoring, driving home, making dinner, going to bed."  Seriously, who cares?  And that same girl posts that every single work day.

I really don't though!  Unless there's the potential that my child is exposed, I don't need to know - and I certainly don't need a FB update of it!

I'm not posting TMI updates on pregnancy about reflux or any fluid-like substances that come out.  That's just too much info.

I have the overwhelming urge to punch your FB friend in the face. That's how they are breaking the news. Sounds like a great friend to me.

On the other topic I have way to many of those friends that post constant crap about their kids, the weather, their religion, or how they are cutting their toenails then eating a sandwich. I did a "defriending" not too long ago and posted that I was going to do it. If you checked back and we weren't "friends" it was because you drove me crazy with your crappy status updates. It made me feel happy.

I'm really irritated when people "check in" at various places.  The only reason I care to know your exact location is so I can go kill you while you're there or rob you while I know you're away from your house.  And since I lack the energy for violence and have a moral compass that won't allow me to follow through on such things, there's just no reason at all for me to know.

One day at work I "checked in" out loud every time I moved to try to drive this point home to some of the fb offenders in the office.  "I'm at the door!"  "I'm near the printer" "I'm in my aisle" "I'm in my cube" "Sitting down!"  All day.  ALL DAY.  They didn't get it.

  • The worst part though, about the check in app, is that people can check YOU in at places if you don't have it blocked in all the right places. Why would I want someone ELSE to be able to announce that I am not at home, and that someone should come and rob me to all THEIR friends? That's just insane!
