Write About Your Potential Bridesmaids/Groomsmen to Make a Decision

I have been having a hard time making decisions about the Bridal Party.  However, since I have not made any announcements yet, writing about each bridesmaid on my wedding website has really helped me narrow down my selection.

As I began describing why I chose each bridesmaid I had tons to say about certain friends, and not as much about others.  When I wrote my childhood best friend's it was very emotional and easy to write about, even though we're not as close as we once were.  When I tried to write about another friend I didn't have much to say.

All in all, if I don't have that much to say about why someone is my bridesmaid, they probably shouldn't be my bridesmaid.

Hope this helps others!

I don't really think thats helpful information.  My BMs were from all different aspects of my life.  2 of which were sister who grew up across the street from me and we all live in different states so we rarely see eachother.  Then another BM has been my BF for years and we were together all the time before I moved, so I have plenty of stories about her.  Thats kind of like saying "if I can't think of enough great memories of you off the top of my head, you aren't good enough to be a BM."

Honestly, I'm glad it helped you make a decision.  But I really hope none of these possible BMs know about your website, where they could have read about themselves as a BM, only to find out that they didn't get chosen.

Also, you should probably check with them before you post their info on the internet.  Some people are very private about their lives and might not want it on a website.

  • Here's an easier way to determine who should be in your BP:

Who would you call to bail you out of jail?  Who would you call at 3am if your dog died?

Go with your gut reactions.  Those are the people that should be in you WP.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • I don't think this is an awful idea if you do it privately ... like, in your head or on a piece of paper at home that you'll throw away when you're done.

I think it's a REALLY bad idea to put this information on a website, especially (a) without them knowing it, and (b) before you've even asked them to be in the wedding party. I mean, it's not automatic that they'll say yes. They might have personal issues that would make them decline being in your wedding for whatever reason.
