Wedding Party

What's the oldest flower girl you have seen?

Just curious what your experiences have been. I feel like the most common age is usually around 5 or so...

My little sister, who is 11, would love to be a flower girl in my wedding. So that's what got me thinking. I know, I can do whatever works for us. But I was wondering what your thoughts were on older flower girls/ring bearers.

  • Probably around 10 or 11. I've seen girls 11 and 12 be junior BM's, too. Maybe ask her what she'd rather do.

<div>Yeah, I'm personally not real big on Jr. BM's... But she said she'd rather be a FG anyway! :)</div></div>
  • 18 (not kidding).

Mine was 8.  I say if she wants to do it, go for it.

  • As long as she wants to be a flower girl I say go for it.

  • I don't go to weddings to criticize the choice of flower girl or bridal party, so I don't get why our thoughts really matter.

If you and your sister are happy with that decision, then who cares what anyone thinks? It's not like they're the ones affected by your sister's role.

Personally, the oldest flower girl I've seen was maybe 5 or 6, but most weddings I've attended didn't have children in them.

  • Can't remember what is the oldest I've seen, but FI's little sister really wants to be a FG for our wedding, so we are doing that. She will be almost 13. I thought it strange at first, but in the big picture, who really cares?

  • My biological sister and I both got married this summer. I had our 11 yr old adopted sister as a BM in my wedding, and my bio sister had our 11 yr old adopted sis be a flower girl. Could go either way. :)

I've never seen a flower girl at wedding (I've been to at least 20 - 25), except in the movies, on TV and in wedding industry magazines.

Why wouldn't you ask your sister to be a bridesmaid?  I don't think 11 is too young to be a bridesmaid.
