Bridesmaid dilemma

OK so here is my problem. I have two plus size bridesmaids and two very tall/thin bridesmaids.I am a plus size girl myself and I don't want to put my bigger friends in anything uncomfortable because I know I would hate it if I knew they felt uncomfortable in their dresses. However, I found the PERFECT bridesmaid dresses (color, style etc) and I would love to have them all in the same dress. Unfortunately, one of my plus size friends hates it and it falls on her weird because of her hips. What should I do? My alternate idea is to have my tall/skinny girls wear the dress I love and then find another dress for my other friends to wear that they feel is flattering on them and that I like. What do you think?

  • Choose a color and let them all pick out a different style.

It's not a "perfect" dress if it looks awful on half your bridesmaids. And putting your thin bridesmaids in your favorite dress while putting the plussized girls in a different dress will just scream, "You guys are too fat." If they can all afford the designer of your favorite dress, then ask them to pick out whatever style they want from the color and length that you specify.

  • Ditto malphabet.  Can you pick a designer in their price range that works for them? Then they go with what they'd like in the color you like.
  • I like the idea of the PPs.  Choose a designer, length and color you like and let them choose a dress they like.  It's good that you want everyone to be comfortable and to like how they look, some brides aren't that considerate.
  • I agree with PP about letting your BMs choose a dress that is comfortable for them. Maybe one of your girls will end up choosing the one you originally loved.

Just curious, did she dislike the dress because the sample size didn't fit her right? because sometimes those kinds of issues can be fixed by alterations. That is if she likes the overall feel of the dress but just doesn't like how it fell over her hips.
If the overall feel of the dress makes her uncomfortable, or if she just plain doesn't like it, then disragard what I just said.

What avout the half of the BMs who are slim?  Have you any idea what kind of pressure a slim person puts up with every other day for 'NOT EATING ENOUGH?

In a perfect world, BM dresses came perfect for every shape but they don't. Color and length is about as far as you can get.
  • Any time a group of people are dressed in exactly the same thing it causes people to naturally compare people's differences, unfortunately, highlighting the flaws of the ladies who are body concious.  This is why I think different dresses in same color is the kindest way to go.  Plus, I think it looks really cool (pulled together but not matchy matchy)  Doing that also honors each of your friends as the individuals that they are and allows them to choose something that flatters them.  It's a win-win solution all the way around I think.
  • My ladies are wearing this dress. I have BMs that range in sizes 8 to a size 24. I am also a plus-sized girl. I chose this one because it looks great on all of them and they all feel comfortable in it.

<div>I am wearing this dress for a wedding that I am a BM in this summer! My girls are wearing a similar-style dress by Jordan Fashions that flatters everyone (size 2-size 16).   With that being said, I think you need to find a dress that everyone feels comfortable in, or let them pick their own dress (with color and designer of your choice).</div>
  • My wedding party picked their own dresses because each has a different personality. I only picked the colors. And everyone looks great! I can't wait to see what they do with their hair!
