Wedding Party

My friends and I had a good laugh about this one today

http://www.brides.com/blogs/brides-daily/2010/09/15-things-a-great-bridesmaid-will-do.html?mbid=synd_yshine

Sadly, somewhere, a bride is emailing it to her BMs as their list of duties.

A word of warning from your friends at Cracked.com: Remember that text is going to be how you make your first impression over the internet; if every third word you type is misspelled, people will automatically assume that you're a moron.

  • I had no idea that crying could be mandated. I did our wedding all wrong. I've got to get my MOH on the phone and tell her she owes me tears, at least a half-a-cup full.

  • 8. CALL YOU OUT for bad behavior (i.e., making the matron of honor promise not to get pregnant before the wedding).

And for referring to ridiculous lists like this...

What disappointed me about #8 is that it made it sound like it would be perfectly natural for a bride to make such a ridiculous request, so your BMs have to be on guard for it.

Yes...unfortunately, brides are so enthralled by shows like Bridezillas that it's now become common for brides to put forth such ridiculous requests...as both bride and BM for next year, I pray that both I and my BFF get through our weddings without the psychosis :)

  • I think eating jelly beans is perfectly acceptable, and mandated crying is ridiculous. But other than that, it just sounds like a list of what good friends do for each other, not a mandate of must have behaviors. Anyone taking it that way is being too sensitive. It's clearly meant to be a heart-warming, "aren't girl-friends the best" kind of thing, and definitely not meant as "rules". Honestly, you're taking it too seriously.

Um, we're laughing at the list...and the fact that a lot of brides would consider it a list of must-dos. I see brides promulgate lists like this as "BM duties that I get to ask my BFFs" all the time on this board.

  • I was a shiit MOH.
My friend was sooo pissed that I wasn't staying over with her the night before, but apparantly I was in the wrong.

#13 made me lol. Her mom certainly acted like that.

It's for a laugh. You'll know when we're serious about something.
