Wedding Party

WP Tuesday!

How is everyone?

I'm sorry it took me a while to start this.  It's been a busy day.  DH and I are trying to close this week AND I just talked to my mom for the last 80 minutes.

I have to say, I really feel so lucky having a mom who wants to help but who also won't be intrusive.  I hope that in 30 years, my child feels the same way about me.

On a WP board front, it seems to be quite the week for controversial topics.  I do hope that people benefit from the advice given.

  • Closing? CLOSING??? Does that mean you have a buyer? Did I miss that?

  • Banana can we shut down that "What if she continues to complain?" post.  OP got her answer like two weeks ago but because it was in that stupid newsletter every beebee on TK has put her two cents in and it just stays alive, and if I have to read one more pithy "it's YOUR day" response I don't know what I'm going to do.

"I think bablingbrooke is the 13 yr old marring her cousin at the town hall. Lets all give her a big hand. And hope her inbred children can live normal lives." -tabs.

A word of warning from your friends at Cracked.com: Remember that text is going to be how you make your first impression over the internet; if every third word you type is misspelled, people will automatically assume that you're a moron.
  • I think I'm bracing myself for at least that many changes.  :-)

    Good luck!!
  • I just did that.  It was getting out of hand.
  • THANK YOU!

  • I hate doing that.  I don't like having to close a thread but this one was getting to be beyond the point of the thread and the OP was long gone.

Beyond that, I'm saddened by the number of people who use the phrase, "It's your day."

  • Good to know!  Now I don't have to be confused about that anymore. :)

I just landed from San Francisco.  I'll let you all know how my apparently tacky as hell second reception (according to a lot of posters) went later.

Gen X ends with those born in 1977.  DH and I are in the heart of it.

  • Can't wait to hear about it, Tricia. =) And then you need to come back to your regular posting. I've missed you. ;)

  • So there are circumstances which permit a second reception?

DH and I aren't having one, but we ARE hosting a semi-fancy dinner for all his Taiwan relatives when we go to Taipei for Spring Festival in early February.  It'll be the first time I meet them, and even though I speak Mandarin confidently I'm bracing myself for a whole week with nothing but new in-laws on their foreign turf!

H's coworkers all expected us to host a reception here in Shanghai when we returned after the wedding, but I put my foot down.  I hated the idea that his coworkers would feel obligated to give us a gift when they were left off the guest list for the actual wedding.   Some gave us reallly generous gifts, anyway.
  • My understanding with Tricia's situation is that her FIL (I think) wanted to throw them a reception on the west coast since not many people from the family could go to the east coast for the wedding.  I personally don't see a problem with it if family members who lives far from the wedding and couldn't attend wants to throw a party to celebrate the marriage.  But that's just me.

  • That's the situation Brooke but more to the point, my FIL is unable to travel any distance anymore so he was not able to come to Philadelphia for the wedding.  He asked to throw a reception for DH's huge Greek family (who came out of the woodwork to attend -  as far away as Santa Barbara).  His daughter told him in the toast that she made that she had a lot of fun planning this and spending his money.

  • I agree, Brooke. I am sure it made FIL's day too, to still get to be a part of all of the love and happiness.
