Wedding Party

You're Fired...?

It took me a while to fill an open spot in my wedding party. I had a gut feeling who I wanted, but still, I wasn’t sure. Then, I asked her, she accepted, and it was like ever since she’s been vacant from my life, ignoring me, not hanging out, natta. I don’t know what to do. I don’t even know if she wants to be in my wedding anymore! We’ve been friends since we were 14, but when I asked her we were really close, now, nothing. Maybe a FB comment here and there. What do I do?

Re: You're Fired...?

  • Maybe her feelings are hurt because you think she is a prop and not a person.

  • She's most likely upset because she feels like a prop in your wedding instead of feeling you genuinely want her in your wedding party. Can't say I blame her.

Also, 'an open spot'!? What is this, a job?

Is this the same girl that you wanted to replace with your sister? I believe everyone already answered your question on how you should handle this one.

  • I'm also confused about the "open spot" part.

Isn't it obvious?  You go to real hell, not just wedding hell, if your sides are uneven.  Everyone knows that...;)

  • Since being a member of the WP isn't a job, it's impossible to "fire" someone.  Nice try.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146

This is what urban dictionary has to say about natta:
<div class="definition">when you walk into a party with a case of natural ice the first thing that is said is "<strong class="highlight">Natta</strong> Boy"</div> <div class="example">Greg: hey guys I got some natty
    Jeff: Man that sh*t sucks..
Greg: hey the sh*t gets ya drunk
    Jeff: true... <strong class="highlight">Natta</strong> Boy

If OP is having a problem with her BM liking Natty Ice, then I think she should just let it go. :)
    </div>

  • so, did the girls have to submit a current wedding resume to get one of the open spots?

She probably gave them a questionnaire about herself, and whoever got the highest score got the job.  Kind of like an aptitude test.
