San Antonio area venue help please

I'm looking for a venue where we could have the ceremony outside and have our reception inside.  For the reception I would really like something with a lot of windows. (Also a place for the ceremony inside if there is inclement weather.)  I would like to be able to bring in my own food but have them provide the tables, chairs, linens etc...  Does anyone know of any venue like this? I need all the help I can get.  Thank you!

My sister had her reception at Forest Water's club in Garden Ridge (about 20 minutes from SA). It had several different room sizes, we brought our own food, and you could do the ceremony outside. And there were lots of windows, in our room at least!

If you are having a somewhat small reception (>200 people), you might consider the Olympia Hills golf course and country club; it's GORGEOUS at all times of day, and reasonably priced. You can do indoor/outdoor ceremony and bring your own food. This is also aabout 15 minutes outside of San Antonio (it's in Selma).

As for being inside the city limits of SA, everything gets more expensive (that's why my friends have all done stuff on the outskirts). However, if it has to be in SA and you can spend a bit more (both of the ones above were about 1500 for the venue only, sans food), check out the Crystal Room (www.absolutelydelicious.com). I found it in a magazine and it's SO beautiful, in the pictures at least. You might also check out the Palacio del Rio hotel on the riverwalk.

Our wedding is at the Schertz civic center. It is a large room (seats almost 200) and looks beautiful. It was inexpensive as well. As the PP said, the closer you get to SA, the more expensive.

Thank you guys for the suggestions!  It really doesn't have to be in San Antonio.  Could defintiely do Borne, Helotes, Fredericksburg etc...

We are getting married at Boulder Springs in New Braunfels. It is not on the cheaper side, but it allows all the things you talked about.

Oh wow! Boulder Springs is gorgeous!  Thank you BabyBlueNTexas.  Can I ask what you are paying for it?

    I always recommenr sanantonioweddings.com
They should seriously start paying me because I tell everyone about that site. I've gotten 99% of my vendors through them. There's an area where you can search venues and it has info mainly for SA, but there's some Bourne and New Braunfels (even Comfort) locations in there that are beautiful.

They vary at different times of the year, but for a Sat night in August we are paying about 5000. You should call and see if there are times of the year that might be cheaper.

Granberry Hills sounds like it might work for you. They have two different areas and both have really pretty outdoor ceremony areas and then indoor ballrooms for the reception. Good luck!

oh and Granberry Hills has one ballroom that has a ton of windows too!

Oh yeah I really like Granberry. We had some friends that got married there last fall. Does anyone else feel like they don't want to use the same venue as their friends who got married before me?  I dunno why... I just feel like it won't be completely mine or special.

The Gardens of Cranesburry is gorgeous!  Looks super expensive.  Any idea what a Satruday evening would run me?

    Thanks everyone :-)

I'm getting married at La Fontana Springs in Garden Ridge.  I'm not 100% sure if you can bring in your own food or if it's enough windows for you but it's a beautiful place.  There are 2 big windows near where the DJ sets up and where they hold the indoor ceremonies (can also do outdoor) that overlooks the tree's :).

<div>I know just what you mean! How many people are you inviting? If you are willing to go out this far, Spring Branch has a lot of smaller chapels and rustic places that you can have a wedding, and most of it is fairly inexpensive. If that's an option, you and your FI or maids should take a day drive down there, go to a little tea house for lunch, and scout for places that are a little more "off the wedding grid." Essentially, if I see a place in a magazine, I know it's going to be more expensive, so scouting the random helps a lot with the moolah.</div>

Thanks everyone for your help!  Me and the FI booked our place yesterday!  It's a beautiful historic restraunt in Boerne.  They do their own catering, but it is SO good.  The owner even treated us to wine and lunch while we were there.  It's called Spinelli's Vistro.  They are really reseaonable and they also own a little B&B next store that you can reserve for some of your guests.  I'm beyond excited and now I feel like I can relax a little.
