What does he do?  He stands next to you in a suit or tux.  Ditto with your FI's groomswoman - she can wear a tux or suit, a black dress, or a dress that coordinates with your attendants.  Easy peasy.

  • They can just be called 'honor attendants', if that is what you are asking. There are a lot of creative ways to figure out the attire like PP said, just talk to your friends and see what they would be comfortable wearing. For my DH his sister was best person (we called her honor attendant) and work the same dress as the BMs only in black, with a sash in the same color as the BM dresses.
  • He does exactly what the other members of the WP do:  he walks down the aisle, stands respectfully during the ceremony, smiles for the pictures.  That about sums it up.

    Yup.

As far as optional stuff like getting ready or pre-parties, it's just what makes everyone most comfortable.  We didn't have a shower or bachelor/bachelorette, so that wasn't an issue, but for getting ready, we split along gender lines rather than bride's side/groom's side because I brought a hairstylist in for the girls and DH took the guys for straight-razor shaves.

    Okay, that was funny.

OP, I think you need to clarify your question.  They do the exact same thing as the rest of the WP.  They just stand on different sides.

Whomever he would like.  The WP isn't obligated to get ready as a group.  In general, people tend to be more comfortable with same-sex groups when getting ready, but if he really wants to hang out with you and the girls, I'm sure you can find a way to make it work.

It's really up to him.  If he'd be more comfortable getting ready with the guys he can do that.  If he'd rather get ready with you because he's closer to you, he can do that too.

My brother was a GM in my sister's wedding but he still got ready with the girls because he wanted to be there with my sister.

I'm having a mixed gender wedding party and I've invited the groomswomen to get ready with my side if they'd like, but I think they're opting to get ready with my FI since he's the one they're closest to.

Just a matter of personal preference. :)
