Wedding Party

O.M.G.

Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 are coming out of the vault November 30th.

OMG!!!!

I wanted to buy FI Fantasia 2000 for Christmas last year, but it was nearly $50 because of their stupid vault system.

BUT IT'S COMING OUT!! SQUEE!

Re: O.M.G.

  • When I was little I would play school by myself and make my "students" watch Fantasia as a school assignment. Oh, the memories. I was weird, I know.
  • I just never liked Fantasia.  I think that's not allowed, but there it is.  My fiance, however, is most excited to watch it again.

I'm more of a "Little Mermaid" through "Mulan" fan.
  • Joy, I love the Little Mermaid the most. And Mulan is awesome. When I was younger I didn't like the Little Mermaid. But now that I can add professional musician to my list, I appreciate far more.

  • I don't think I've ever seen Fantasia...  We had most of the Disney library on VHS growing up, but I don't think we had that one.

The vault annoys me sometimes, but I made really good money reselling the old crappy versions of Aristocats and Robin Hood right before the new shiny ones got released.  I don't even know how I got those...

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • This is too funny because Lucas and I just watched my VHS (that's right, video) copy of Fantasia 2000 the other night. I don't know why he chose it. I think because he had never seen it before.

  • It sounds like I may be picking up some Blu-Ray movies for the kids for Christmas :) I already plan to buy DD Beauty and the Beast.
  • My favorite is The Jungle Book.

I miss the days when the movies would come out of the vault every so many years and be back in the theaters.  So much cooler than VHS or DVD.

That's one of the great things about living in LA: Disney owns a classic theater downtown called the El Capitan, and every so often, they'll release older movies there for a short run (usually coinciding with a DVD release).  I've seen Little Mermaid, Nightmare Before Christmas, and all three Toy Story films there in the past year or two.  I'm really sad that we missed the Beauty and the Beast singalong, it looked awesome.

It wasn't Disney, but last month AMC rereleased Back to the Future in theaters for three shows only, and it was a huge success (and a hell of a lot of fun).  I'm hoping that they continue to do that periodically.

  • Yeah, I'm gonna miss the El Cap when we move.  My sisters are coming to visit in December and they've never been, so I really, really wanted to take them to the midnight showing of Tron.  (Especially because I nearly peed myself watching the second trailer.)  But no, they both have early flights the next day and my older sister is bringing the baby and THOSE BITCHES ARE RUINING ALL MY FUN.

Ahem.  I suppose we can go see Tangled instead, but it's just not the same...
