My wedding is still a year off. However I was thinking of making something special for the Groomsmen and was wondering if the cost of the BM gifts and the groomsme gifts should match up.
My FI is only having one GM and his BM. I happen to know that both of them are really big Dr. Who fans. Both have expressed interest in wishing I would make them Dr. Who scarfs. (The GM is my son and he asked for it as a birthday or Christmas gift some year and the Best Man has asked what I would charge him to make him one.)
This would cost me about $50-75 each and take me about 3-4 months each to make. I just don't want the bridesmaids to feel overlooked because their gifts won't be as expensive.
I am making them a few things but it is for a "bridesmaid survival kit" and to me that is not a bridesmaid gift but just a fun thing I want to put together for them. To them the say that could be their gifts. So while it is not part of their gift for me, to them it is.
For that I am making some chocolates, since we all eat chocolate when stressed, some home made bath salts, a cute tote as a gift bag that I am going to customize for them. By customize I mean I am going to decorate them in ways that suit them not their intials or "Bridesmaid" or something like that. I am also making custom journals.
It is just my friends love my homemade gifts and I will put more time and love in the gifts for the guys than I do for the women and I hope they don't feel I am not as thankful for them.
