  • An island that you'd love to visit would be The Maldives or anywhere in the Caribbean.
Do you tan or sunburn? I tan. I have only had one or two sunburns in my entire life.
When you go on vacation, are you more of a beach gal or a site girl? I am both. It really depends on where you are.
Do you read books on vacation? If so, why types of books? Titles? For our honeymoon, we read 3 books each during the week. I read the "Lost Symbol " by Dan Brown (total crap) and the Time Traveler's Wife which I loved.
Share a horror vacation story if you have one: Not really a HORROR story, but my mom and dad got into a big argument at brunch in Mexico because my mom said "she smokes like a chimney" in her story and my dad said "no, HE doesn't smoke like a chimney." It sounds ridiculous, but it really happened. Full blown fight because he heard differently from what was said.

  • An island that you'd love to visit would be ___________.
The one that Johnny Depp owns, provided he's there at the same time.

    Do you tan or sunburn?
Tan mostly. I only burn if I'm out for a long time without any sunscreen.

When you go on vacation, are you more of a beach gal or a site girl?
It depends on where we are. I love the beach, but if there are cool attractions or sites then I usually want to see them.
Do you read books on vacation? If so, why types of books? Titles?
Yes. But I haven't gone on vacation in years except for the HM, and I didn't read anything then. But I usually only read fiction and cooking magazines.

Can't think of any. Mostly just my mom and stepdad arguing over stupid stuff, but that's nothing different than what they do at home. I did get the chickenpox one year on vacation in WV and my dad made me go see this cave with the family anyway, and I felt miserable the entire time.
  • An island that you'd love to visit would be US Virgin Islands or anywhere else, really.

Do you tan or sunburn? Burn

When you go on vacation, are you more of a beach gal or a site girl? Site girl.

Do you read books on vacation? If so, why types of books? Titles? Usually fiction.

Share a horror vacation story if you have one: Our entire DC vacation when I was 15...my sister's purse got stolen, we got lost en route to the hotel, our room wasn't ready, the beds were uncomfortable, we didn't sleep, my parents were cranky, and our flight to go back was canceled.  It was terrible.

Do you tan or sunburn? Tan, if I make sure to wear some sunscreen and limit my time.

When you go on vacation, are you more of a beach gal or a site girl? Site girl.

Do you read books on vacation? If so, why types of books? Titles? Yes. Girly novels like The Shopaholic series, nothing too serious.

Share a horror vacation story if you have one: No true horror story, but I have had a few problems flying to and from places and cancelled flights.

  • An island that you'd love to visit would be just about any island will work for me right now butI would love to go back to Hawaii.
Do you tan or sunburn?Tan unless I don't use sunscreen.
When you go on vacation, are you more of a beach gal or a site girl? Both.
Do you read books on vacation? If so, why types of books? Titles?Last couple times I was on vacation I read Jodi Picoult books.  I think I've read just about every book she has out now.
Share a horror vacation story if you have one:No horror stories really.  The airline has lost our luggage a time or two but we got it back... eventually.

  • An island that you'd love to visit would be I'd like to go back to islands I've been to, but I've never been to the Carribean.

Do you tan or sunburn? Tan.  Unless I haven't been outside much, then go for the first time when it's blazing hot.  Then I sunburn once and tan the rest of the summer.  I am a baby about sunburns.

When you go on vacation, are you more of a beach gal or a site girl? Varies.  I like the beach and seeing sites, but I'm not a "hey, let's try to fit a TON into each day" type of person.  I want to either relax or hike and then relax, not run frantically between sites until I'm well past exhaustion.

Do you read books on vacation? If so, why types of books? Titles? Books and magazines (I only read magazines on vacation).  Depends on what type of books I find.

Share a horror vacation story if you have one: Everyone was worried that  my sister had fallen (wandered?) into the bayou at a Mardi Gras party for a good 30-45 minutes once when I was little. Turned out she was playing in the daughter's room of the house we were at (daughter wasn't home) and didn't hear the frantic search for her.

And this one the issue didn't take place on vacation, but when we got to the hotel room in Maui the summer before my senior year of HS, there was a note on the desk with a message from my aunt.  My grandpa had a really bad accident with a power tool, I think his heart had stopped but they brought him back, and was in Shock Trauma ICU at a hospital in the overall bad health care system that he had to go to since he was taken by ambulance.  My mom spent half the vacation fretting about whether she should fly home - he was in stable condition at that point and there wasn't going to be anything she could do from home, really.
  • An island that you'd love to visit would be any island with a nice beach and great weather.

Do you tan or sunburn? If I don't wear sunscreen I burn.  But with sunscreen I tan.

When you go on vacation, are you more of a beach gal or a site girl? Beach.  Definitely beach.

Do you read books on vacation? If so, why types of books? Titles? Yes. I've been reading the same series for a year (I just don't read often) so that's what I read when on vacation, and that's what I plan to read on our honeymoon in December.  It's the Dresden Files.

Share a horror vacation story if you have one: No real horror stories for me.  The worst I can think of is when H and I were at a hotel in Florida and the elevator wouldn't stop at our floor on the way up.  So we would have to take the stairs or take the elevator one floor above or below our floor and take stairs from there or take the elevator to the floor above ours and then push the button for our floor and it would stop at our floor on the way down.

  • An island that you'd love to visit would be Sicily

Do you tan or sunburn? I burn. I have really fair skin, so it's hard for me to be out in the sun without constantly slathering on sunblock. Oh how I wish I could tan and not just freckle!

When you go on vacation, are you more of a beach gal or a site girl? It depends on the vacation. If I'm visiting a city, I'm a site seer, if I'm in a more mellow area, I'm a beach gal.

Do you read books on vacation? If so, why types of books? Titles? Not really. If I do take something to read, it's usually just whatever I was in the middle of when I left for vacation.

Share a horror vacation story if you have one: When I was in first grade, my parents loaded us all up in the family van and drove out to Colorado stopping at every historic site known to man. At one of the sites where we stopped, there was a replica of a war ship's cannons (I have no idea where this was, I've blocked out most of this event, ha!).

There were three of them, and they were pretty high off the ground, so my brothers climbed up on two of them and my mom hoisted me up onto the third, She walked back to where my dad was standing, took a picture of the three of us and then they both pretended to run away! Now, my brothers were old enough to understand it was a joke and hopped down to run after my mom and dad, but I immediately started screaming and crying that I couldn't get down and please don't leave me here!

It was awful. It took my mom hours to convince me they weren't all going to leave me to die on top of a replica cannon.

  • An island that you'd love to visit would be Cuba. I can go on my British passport and want to go before it's easily accessible to all US citizens.

Do you tan or sunburn? Tan.

When you go on vacation, are you more of a beach gal or a site girl? If there are sights to see, I like to take advantage and go see them, but I'm also perfectly happy on the beach.

Do you read books on vacation? If so, why types of books? Titles? Chick lit, mysteries, basically anything easy and entertaining.

Share a horror vacation story if you have one: I thought I was going to die last time I was in Brazil because I took the wrong bus by myself at night, but luckily a nice lady helped me find my way (full story here: http://bit.ly/ZVJtN). That was easily the scariest moment of my life, and hopefully I won't be such a total idiot when I'm in Sao Paulo at the end of the month!
  • An island that you'd love to visit would be anywhere warm.

Do you tan or sunburn? burn

When you go on vacation, are you more of a beach gal or a site girl?  both!!!

Do you read books on vacation? If so, why types of books? Titles? The last real vacation we had was Christmas/New Years.  I read The Lost Symbol (Dan Brown) and The Autobiography of Henry VIII (Margaret George).  I probably read some other stuff too, but I don't remember.

Share a horror vacation story if you have one: When I was 11 my family went to Disney World.  My dad had quit smoking the week before and he really wanted one.  He was going to break down and have one, but then he couldn't find any to buy in Epcot.  He finally told my mom to take my brother and I to get something to eat before I passed out while he left to get cigarettes.  I was so glad he said that b/c I was starving.  Hadn't eaten since breakfast, but you don't say you're hungry until dad says it's time to eat.
  • An island that you'd love to visit would be Ireland.
Do you tan or sunburn? I usually go from pasty-white to lobster to tan :)
When you go on vacation, are you more of a beach gal or a site girl? I love sightseeing...and I don't really like the beach...
Do you read books on vacation? If so, why types of books? Titles? If I have a book available, I read it...whatever happens to be on my person at the time.
Share a horror vacation story if you have one: When I was 17, I took two trips back to back...Myrtle Beach with my dad's family for a week (which was awesome!) and then I spent a week in CT at my aunt and uncle's on their farm.
It was my first time flying alone, and Murphy's Law was in full effect. My flight from Pgh to Newark to connect to Hartford was delayed for 2 hours...my layover was only about an hour...so I missed my connecting flight to CT.
I was stuck in Newark Airport with no money, no phone, and all alone. I was fortunate that there was an internet cafe with computers that I could use to e-mail my mom and uncle and let them know what had happened. Both of them called the airline and chewed them out, although it did nothing. I was also lucky that McDonald's was doing their Monopoly promotion and I had a couple of freebies in my wallet and maybe a buck or two in change, so I was able to get something to eat.
All in all, 8 hours later, I got on a flight to Hartford, my uncle picked me up at midnight and I had an excellent visit there, and a thankfully event-free flight home :)
  • An island that you'd love to visit would be anywhere warm!  I've loved every island I've been to so far. :)

Do you tan or sunburn?  Tan.

When you go on vacation, are you more of a beach gal or a site girl?  Beach girl.

Do you read books on vacation? If so, why types of books? Titles?  Yes, fiction, oftentimes young adult.  The last book I read on vacation was The Hunger Games trilogy.  I'll recommend it to anyone!!

Share a horror vacation story if you have one:  I've generally had pretty good luck, but last spring break, we had a terrible time coming back from Jamaica.  Our flight was delayed by several hours and when we finally landed we discovered that my dad had lost the car keys.  We didn't end up getting home for another two hours...and then we had a 4 hour drive back to our place, which we HAD to do that night because our hot water heater had broken and the guys were coming to replace it at 8am the next morning.  I think we got 2 hours of sleep that night.  So much for the relaxing vacation!!

  • An island that you'd love to visit would be: Somewhere in the Caribbean

Do you tan or sunburn? Oh, I burn. Badly. And it never "fades to tan", I just go back to ghostly white. Curse my "vampire" skin.

When you go on vacation, are you more of a beach gal or a site girl?
Depends on where I am. Usually, I like to see the local attractions, but insist on squeezing in a day where I can lounge somewhere.

Do you read books on vacation? If so, why types of books? Titles?
Vacation is usually when I read just funny biographies or short story compilations. The last vacation we went on, I read "You're Horrible Person, But I Like You" and "We Thought You Would Be Prettier".  I usually steer clear of anything that's real thought provoking unless it's something I started prior to leave and I'm really into it. For the most part, I prefer to not focus all of my attention on a book when I'm on vacation.

"Worst" thing that ever happened on vacation was we went to Disney for our HM, and right before we left (Like the day before the wedding, so 2 days before we got to Florida), the 10-day forecast said it was going to be in the high 60s/low 70s for the week. So that's what we packed for. We got there, and our warmest day was 42 (It actually dropped into the 20s at night). Unfortunately, nobody was prepared for it, so we couldn't find any clothing to make it a little more bearable anywhere. We still had fun, but damn it was cold.
