Best part about September?Lots of wedding stuff was done, FI and I have been engaged for one year tomorrow, I had a shower which was fun, and I got an extra week of paid vacation as a wedding gift from my boss.

Opinions about Taylor Swift? I like about 50% of her songs. I don't think she is the best singer ever but she is talented and seems to be a nice girl. I don't think she will end up like Brittany Spears or Lindsay Lohan but you never know.

Opinions on Justin Bieber? He seems like a nice kid. I could see him getting into drugs or alcohol later if his parents aren't careful. He's really made a name for himself; however I'm not crazy for his music.

Plan to see "The Social Network" movie? It looks like a renter but it still isn't high on my list.

With October coming up, what was the best thing that happened in September? We celebrated our 1 year anniversary and got our puppy this month!
What are your opinions about Taylor Swift? I like her BIG singles that make it onto radio play. 
Do you like Justin Beiber? I do NOT understand the fascination behind him with all these older women. His hair is ridiculous!
Do you plan to see "The Social Network" the face book movie? Yes, I plan to see it....partly because I know Jesse Eisenberg. But it also looks interesting to me. Zuckerberg said that it's not accurate and gave all that money to New Jersey public  schools afterwards. Makes me think that it makes him look really bad.

Finally got my book in the publishing stage after like a year od editing and revising.

I'm not a big fan, I think she's overrated but at the same time her music just isn't my style. She seems sweet enough.

I don't really know much about him and have only heard a couple songs. I don't see the fascination, but it doesn't bother me. Good for him, accomplishing his dreams. It's like Taylor Swift, I don't like either one but who am I to judge what is and isn't good music?

Do you plan to see "The Social Network" the face book movie?
No. It looks boring and I haven't heard good things about it, like that it's really inaccurate.

I have a wait and see attitude about her.  She has talent but everything she has put out has been about being a teenage girl.   If she can grow into adult music she has a chance.  If she can't, she'll be this generation's Debbie Gibson.

Fall weather.  We had a few days in the high 80s last week, but now it's back to 60s and 70s for highs.

I don't really have one.

I don't like his music, but that's just my opinion.  I'm sure there are tons of people who didn't like Hanson's music, but I was still in love with them.

Do you plan to see "The Social Network" the face book movie?
No. I don't think I will probably even put it in my Netflix queue, unless H is interested in seeing it.

With October coming up, what was the best thing that happened in September? Probably celebrating Chile's bicentennial - 4 days off and lots of fun.

What are your opinions about Taylor Swift? I like all her songs, they're catchy.

Do you like Justin Beiber? I've only heard "Baby," which was good for listening to in the car (even if I thought it was sung by a girl), but I don't understand Beiber Fever at all. He's totally unknown in Chile, so I only hear about him from the US.

With October coming up, what was the best thing that happened in September? Hmmm...I have to be honest, I don't really know! If I had to choose, it's kind of dorky, but my brother, SIL, FI, mom and I played a trivia night and won a bunch of money after destroying the competition. That was a really good weekend.

What are your opinions about Taylor Swift? I don't know too much about her, but I remember when her first single came out and I was impressed that she wrote a lot of her music, especially at her age. I think I would care more if I were 13 or 14. She seems like a really sweet girl.

Do you like Justin Beiber? I have to be honest, the only reason I know who Justin Beiber is is because of The Soup.

Do you plan to see "The Social Network" the face book movie? I'm curious about it. I'll definitely see it at some point in time, but maybe not in the theatre.

With October coming up, what was the best thing that happened in September?  Vacation.  I feel like "starting my life after grad school" should be the best thing to happen, but change has bitchslapped me.  I'm still in the "good god, adjusting is hard!" mode.

Do you plan to see "The Social Network" the face book movie? No.  I don't think the Facebook people need to be glorified.  But, I come from a college generation where Facebook was unheard of. (I'm not that old... I graduated in 2002 and we did instant messenger instead)

We figured out that we can make a Mexico trip happen and booked it. Plus the weather was good. Other than that, there wasn't a lot going on this month that was exciting.

Eh, she seems like she might be a nice girl. Her music doesn't really do anything for me... from what I've heard, it just seems like teen songs about boys. Could be worse though I guess.

Do you like Justin Beiber?
I don't know what all the hype is (he has a singing doll now apparently? That's news?). I'm not sure what his other songs are, but when I first heard this kid singing, I thought to myself that it was pretty generic and they could've gotten any babyfaced kid to do this. Then recently he was on this proactiv commerical. Talking all "suave" with this attitude... ugh. I see him blowing all of his money. Soon.

Maybe at some point. I'm not jumping at the bits to see it. I have coupons so I might actually go to the movies sometime soon.

That's awesome. I'm terrible at Trivia!

One day when the boards are slow we need to do a trivia thread. People throw out random trivia questions and see who can answer them. I would lose terribly though!

The best thing is happening today!  I just finished two weeks of stressing out with my firsts tests of the semester (passed both with pretty good grades!) and DH surprised me with a spa day.  *sigh*  He's a good man.

I have to agree with tldh.  I want to see if she can transition into more of an adult musician.

Yes! That's a great idea. I would definitely participate in that.

Like I said, I know it's dorky, but seriously, I was so proud when we won aand we got a good chunk of change from it. And we beat the angry old people table who were a little too into trivia and were steamed that the whippersnappers were beating them. It was a great ego boost.

What are your opinions about Taylor Swift? I liked her better before the "pop" genre discovered her ... I think she'll be fine as an adult, though, because she seems to be good at conveying her actual journey.

Do you like Justin Beiber? No ... I've actually only heard him on the radio once ... and I honest to God thought "Oh great, another lame chick that wants to be Britney" ... then the DJ said it was Justin Beiber. Finding out it was a pre-pubescent boy didn't make me any more forgiving about how lame the song was.

Do you plan to see "The Social Network" the face book movie?
Yes, but I'm waiting for NetFlix. I know they took a lot of liberties with the actual story ... but I like Jesse Eisenberg, and I think Brenda Song is adorable, so I'll see it for them.

Haha!!  I'm sorry.  I just finished my doctorate (defended in July) and now I'm at my post doc position.  The past month and a half was a lot of downtime even though I was still working in my old lab.  I'm now in my new lab and am. just. overwhelmed.  Remember work, Joy?  You have to do that again.

Yeah, I'm bummed.  I get all sorts of invitations for screenings, and they're usually for crap movies where I'm not interested.  (The one we have gone to was for The Uninvited, at the time titled Apparition, which was TERRIBLE.)  So I finally get one that I really want to see, and we can't go because of the scheduling.  Lame!  It doesn't come out until December, so who knows, I might get invited to a second round.

I haven't bought any of their albums for awhile, but I still listen to all the ones that I do have.  Including their Christmas CD!
