Choosing BMs

Hello! I could use a bit of advice. I'm probably making this more complicated than it needs to be.

I have a close group of 6 friends. I'm the first one of our group to get married and I think they'd all like to be BMs. I don't really want to have 8 BMs (sister & niece are already BMs) - the chapel we're getting married at is really tiny, and our wedding is small to begin with - so I'm not sure what to do.

My FI doesn't think I should ask any of them (he has 3 GM, but I know sides don't matter). My mom thinks I should just ask them all. I don't want any drama, but I'd love to have some of them at my side. Is it OK to pick the four I'm closest to, or will this just lead to hurt feelings? Should I just ask them all? Or should I not ask any of them? Or could I just talk to them all and ask them who actually wants to be a BM?

ETA: Just talked to my FI and I was wrong about what he thought - he told me I should just ask all 6, so that's what I'll do! Thanks anyway!

Re: Choosing BMs

  • I think asking all 6 is fine.

Or could I just talk to them all and ask them who actually wants to be a BM?

    I would not do this.

  • Glad you're going to ask all 6.  You won't regret looking at uneven sides in your wedding photos (if you even notice) but you'll probably regret not including someone you really want there.  Good luck!
