Soon to be sister-in-law hinting for a job

This is a second marriage for both of us. The wedding party consists of our 6 older children. A good friend of ours is the Mistress of Ceremoy. My future sister in law keeps hinting  the she isnt involved in the wedding. She lives 2 hours away and we are trying to keep it simple. She made it a point to let me know she was the maid of honor at my fieances first wedding. What job can I giver her and is there a list of formal jobs for a wedding posted somwhere???Undecided

Re: Soon to be sister-in-law hinting for a job

  • The places of honor in a wedding are:

    Attendants (MOH/BM, BM/GM, FG, RB)
Ceremony participants: Readers, soloists, religious roles (communion, etc).
    Officiant
    Ushers

The jobs in a wedding are:

Caterer, florist, cake baker, servers, decorator, photographer, etc

You don't give family jobs.  You give them places of honor.  Having her do a reading may be an option, but you are under no obligation to ask her to do anything.  If she asks about it again, your FI should respond "yes, it was great that you stood up for me at my first wedding.  This time around, we're excited to just ask our kids."
  • Thanks! Reader is a good Idea!
