Wedding Party

*Stage*

Please tell your H I'm so sorry about his sciatica. 4 years ago started having problems with mine, so I know how much it sucks. I basically couldn't walk, pain down my whole leg, prescription painkillers and physical therapy, the whole deal. Then of course it lasts for a while, and you start thinking it'll never go away, and you feel like everyone else thinks you're crazy and overreacting - chronic pain is tough. Mine's a lot better, but it still hurts sometimes (I actually want to start being more proactive about it, going to the chiropractor and trying acupuncture to see if that helps).

Anyway, just wanted to commiserate and wish you both the best.

Re: *Stage*

  • I remember crying on the phone to my dad telling him how no one understood and I could tell everyone thought I was crazy and my life was ruined forever when I got a parking ticket at a meter because I couldn't walk fast enough to get back to my car before it ran out. That was probably my low point.

I was out of commission for about 4 months. The pain I have now is just normal aches and pains, like if someone has a bad ankle or bum shoulder or whatever. So he might have a ways to go, which is probably not what he wants to hear, but he shouldn't give up hope quite yet, and he should take it as easy as he's been told to in order to avoid set-backs that'll just make it last longer.
