Wedding Party

Wedding party gift

Our wedding party is my FIs two sisters and my s.i.l., my brother, fi's b.i.l. close guy friend. I was thinking of doing robes as the wedding party present. Since 4 of the people are married, I thought it would be nice hisher type gift. Thoughts? I think fi thinks its weird for him to give another man a robe, but if its from us both it shouldn't be as awkward, right?

Re: Wedding party gift

  • You should only be worrying about presents for your side of the wedding party.  Your FI should worry about buying the gifts for his side.

It really depends. I would personally like a nice, good-quality robe, but MH wouldn't wear a robe. Do your friends normally wear bathrobes?

If the guys are your FI's friends, let him handle their gifts. You can make suggestions. What did he think about your robe idea for the guys?

  • I agree that it depends on the guy. FI would wear one around the house or at a nice hotel in our room... my brother wouldn't be caught dead in one, regardless of where he is.
  • Fi has/wears one. Im talking about a nice light flannel or Terry cloth kind of robe for the guys. Seriously, your guys don't wear one? So comfy! And because its basicallly our siblings, I don't think doing something from both is too weird. Any other suggestions though?
  • Our wedding party is similar to yours (siblings, married to someone else in the WP).  My FI wants to get the guys coolers with their favorite beverage as part of their gifts.  Before we settled on our gifts, I was going to piggy back on that idea and make each cooler more of a gift basket for the couples' interests.  For example one would be a golf theme, one a fishing theme and one a wine/picnic theme.  So it's way off from your original idea, but something else to consider.
  • I would always suggest just setting a budget and then shop individually for everyone as if it were Christmas or their birthdays.  I mean, if you know beyond a doubt that every single one of them would use a robe, then okay, but that seems a little unlikely.  Regardless, whatever you decide, don't personalize anything with 'bridesmaid' or your wedding date or anything like that.
