Have you ever been assigned a shiity job at a wedding? Nope!

Best wedding you ever went to was awesome because it was a 10 course chinese meal!  It was so cool.  My whole table was adventurous and excited for the next course to come each time.  We ate all sorts of things that night.

What are/did you take from other weddings for your own? I saw someone who mentioned doing escort cards where each card, when put together, made a much larger picture.  The cards were displayed on an easel.  I want to do that, but only as our "guest book."  I think I described that badly.

Did you buy bridal magazines? No - but my sister gave me two so I could pick out bouquets.  I have no idea with these things.

Best wedding you ever went to was awesome because we got to see family we never see, the food was fantastic, it was a beautiful outdoor ceremony...it just rocked
What are/did you take from other weddings for your own? Nothing in particular, as far as I can think of...
Did you buy bridal magazines? I don't buy them, but I've been to a couple of bridal shows and a free subscription came with admission...I read it to laugh at the ridiculous crap they are telling people to do for a wedding...

Best wedding you ever went to was awesome because, well, I wouldn't say it's the best wedding ever, but at SIL's wedding, they had open bar (not common at the weddings I've been to) and they had a huge chocolate fountain. That was fun.

What are/did you take from other weddings for your own? Nothing particular.  I mostly came up with a hodge podge of ideas from stuff on TK or people's bios or just things I thought of on my own.  There wasn't really anything I had seen at a wedding that I was like "we're totally doing that at ours."

Have you ever been assigned a shiity job at a wedding? No. I helped with the guestbook for a cousin, but I didn't mind because H (then-BF) hadn't been able to come, so I was dateless anyway.

Best wedding you ever went to was awesome because it was mine! Wrong answer? Ok fine, the best was probably a friend's which had gorgeous venues (church and social club), yummy food, good music, plenty of booze and a bunch of friends who all were up for dancings.

What are/did you take from other weddings for your own? There was nothing specific that we'd seen at a wedding we attended and decided to steal.

Did you buy bridal magazines? 2, while we were in the US just because I got all excited about getting engaged and knew I wouldn't have access to them in Chile.

Did you buy bridal magazines? nope, but I read an entire issue at walmart when I was waiting for them to finish the car

Have you ever been assigned a shiity job at a wedding?  I was guest book attendant for a friend, but I didn't really find it a shiitty job.  I was treated as a bridesmaid in every respect except our actual ceremonial duties, and the only time I had to spend with the guest book was about half an hour before the ceremony.  As for the ceremony, I got to sit with the bride's family, wearing my own dress and shoes.  I kind of think I got the better part of the deal.  My understanding is that most other GBAs are not so lucky.

Best wedding you ever went to was awesome because aside from mine (which was totally freaking sweet), probably SSIL's.  It was a backyard wedding planned in about a month, but it was simple and lovely and a lot of fun.  Sadly, we had to leave early because there was a one-night-only film screening that night that we couldn't pass up, but we stayed through dinner.

What are/did you take from other weddings for your own?  I stole most of our best ideas from Offbeat Bride and a few bios around here.  I think our only truly original ideas were the wedding day roller coaster ride and the cookie cake.

Did you buy bridal magazines?  I bought an issue of Real Simple Weddings on kind of a whim.  I also ended up with a subscription to Brides for some unknown reason, which I usually read on the train.  Occasionally they'd feature pretty nifty stuff, like a pinecone bouquet or a list of things that aren't worth stressing over (including a tattooed bridesmaid!).

Best wedding you ever went to was awesome because _____________. There are two that I remember being a lot of fun.  One because a lot of our very close friends were there which always makes for a good time and BBQ is delicious.  The other was a family wedding, cocktail style, and I loved not being stuck at an assigned table and being able to keep going back for more and more food.

What are/did you take from other weddings for your own?
We decided to go for cocktail style since I liked it SO much better than a sit down meal. 

We also got the idea for using a fun song after the recessional song from DH's friend's wedding where they had a more typical recessional song, followed by the Mario Brothers theme song.  Originally I had been thinking about using It's Five O'Clock Somewhere as the recessional  since we were having a noon wedding with an open bar for a crowd that's happy to drink during the day.  So instead we used U2's Beautiful Day as the recessional, which was more fitting of the venue/ceremony, followed by It's Five O'Clock Somewhere.

Did you buy bridal magazines? No.  My mom and sister bought a couple.  I just stalked pictures online.

Does being BSC friend's BM count? That really sucked, lol. The only other "role" I've had in a wedding was being a FG several times as a kid ... otherwise, I was never asked to do anything other than be a guest (And for the record, I always felt special that I got invited).

If I can say "mine", I'd like to, because we seriously had the best DJ ever and it just made the whole night fun ... even at other weddings, people are still coming up to me telling me mine was the most fun, lol.
 
If I can't say mine, I'm going to vote for my friend who got married this past August, because they had great food and lots of little "treats" through out the night: Sorbet between courses, gourmet M&Ms for favors, little ice cream cones after cake, and a little cookie and coffee "To Go" station on your way out.

What are/did you take from other weddings for your own?
I totally stole BSC friend's venue after I found out how much of the work the venue did and how "cheap" they were in comparison. To get exactly what I got at any other venue in the area, it would have literally cost me almost double and I would have had to have done most of the work.

I didn't really steal it from a wedding, but walking down the aisle to Final Fantasy music was an idea that one of my best friend's gave me. I absolutely love the song I used, and one day she was saying "You know, it kind of sounds like wedding music!" ... and it kind of clicked right there that I wanted to use that for my processional.

Did you buy bridal magazines?
I bought one or 2, but I have tons of them. Friends of ours got married right after we got engaged (The husband was one of our GMs, DH was his Best Man), and the wife had tons of them that she passed on to me when their wedding was over.

Have you ever been assigned a shiity job at a wedding? FSIL assumed FI and I would play music for her wedding as our "wedding gift". We did it anyway, but it was kind off-putting. We also got her something off her registry. We have yet to receive a TY note for either. 

Best wedding you ever went to was awesome because my mom's AHR because I got to dress up in a pretty pink dress as the "flower girl".

What are/did you take from other weddings for your own? We're following my parents' suit and getting married before having our big party. It's getting pretty common in my family.

Did you buy bridal magazines? Hell no. And I won't. I skimmed a few in Barnes and Noble and was highly disappointed by them.

Have you ever been assigned a shiity job at a wedding?  Program giver-outer.  It was really uncomfortable for me.  I didn't even think of saying anything to my friend at the time because I understood that it was *supposed* to be an honour.

Best wedding you ever went to was awesome because their DJ was fan-freaking-tastic.  Every time I was ready to leave the dance floor, he'd put something on that made me change my mind!

What are/did you take from other weddings for your own?  Nothing really comes to mind...  I guess you could say I'm "stealing" my sister's venue....

Did you buy bridal magazines?  No, but I got a couple at bridal shows and I read a bajillion of them when my sister was getting married.  I usually get annoyed reading them because so much of the advice is so terrible.

Best wedding you ever went to was awesome because it was my best friend's wedding, and I was MOH.  I got to spend all kinds of time with my best friends, and drink a lot.  I also had an awesome time at another friend's wedding--I didn't have to do anything, and it was a beautiful outside reception. 

What are/did you take from other weddings for your own? All kinds of ideas from bios around here.  I can't think of anything specific right now.

Did you buy bridal magazines? I bought several before we got engaged when we started talking weddings, and then I bought a few right after. Not recently, because I get nervous to look at other dresses besides my own. :-)

It just works out that way. I was originially graduating in May. We planned for a May wedding. And no, I didn't want to shack up with FI for awhile after graduation. Then we realized I could graduate earlier. Deposits had been made, so now what do we do? My parents and several family members suggested the route we're taking now and so that's what we're doing.
