Jewish Weddings

FI is Jewish

Hi everyone,
My fiance' is Jewish and I'm Native American.  I was curious if anyone else is having an intercultural wedding?  Also, I don't know very much about the Jewish culture and my fiance' really wants to include some Jewish traditions.  Which ones are usually the most important to include.  Hope you all can help me :)

Thanks!

Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth, welcome to the board!

I thought I would recommend the book "The New Jewish Wedding" by Anita Diamant to you (you can find it on amazon).  A lot of the ladies (Jewish and not Jewish) have found the book very helpful when planning Jewish as well as inter cultural and interfaith weddings.  The book goes gives a good run down of the different Jewish wedding traditions.

A lot of Jewish cultural traditions that interfaith couples tend to use include: having a chuppah (Jewish wedding canopy - google for pictures), having the groom break the glass, and also being escorted down the aisle by both parents.

Also try the interfaith board, as you'll also find a lot of mixed couples there, if you need some perspective from the non-Jewish side.  Welcome and GL.
