You can probably tell from my other posts that I'm into productivity tools. Wedding planning has offered me the excuse of using even more. I've posted about the Google wedding tool [link below], which I didn't use directly, but I've gotten a lot of ideas from. I use Google docs for our wedding spreadsheet, the forms to get addresses from our guests, etc.
Now, I'm obsessed with Evernote. If you don't already know, it's a note organization tool with appications for Android, iOS, and Blackberry platforms. I started using it about 6 months ago on my phone [and posted about it here] and then on my iPad. It's amazing [see my super nerdy links below too]. Aside from the wedding, I use it for menu planning, keeping tabs on New York real estate, book clubs, podcasts, etc. I just recently discovered the desktop application: it's brilliant! One big feature it totes is note encryption. You can password protect the entire application on a mobile device. Meaning, if you have confidential notes, someone would have to crack your phone's standard lock screen and then the Evernote password. I don't use this function simply because it's annoying to punch in that many passwords when I want to quickly add a task to my running wedding to-do list.
The encyprtion option is different, though. I just entered our passport numbers, for instance, and the text within that note is encrypted with its own passcode [numbers and letters]. This isn't a note I'll need often [hopefully never, unless there's a travel emergency], so the same annoying password situation doesn't apply to me. I've also just saved some scanned recipts.
I feel like I just revealed so much about myself.
Do you have any nerdy goodness to share?
