    My month board moderator posted this about it:

    "Hey! Just a head's up that we will have new avatar options soon!  (Likely/hopefully today!)  Unlike that old avatar that you see over and over and over again, it will default to a few different avatars and you will still be able to choose your own. The one caveat is that when the change occurs, you’ll need to re-upload a new (or your current) avatar.  Nothing too huge, but just wanted to pass along the info to you ladies!"

    Lol, I posted a similar thing I think last week when they said it would change in the next day or so.  Obviously, it didn't when it was supposed to and I figured after seeing the new wierd ones it probably had something to do with that, so I guess there you go!  They finally switched it over!
