I have been trying to find some different ideas for our wedding ceremony to make it a little more unique and I didn't wan to do the usual unity candle or sand ceremony. I came across the love letter unity ceremony last night and I love it. I emailed our officiant after I found it to see if she has ever done it and she hasn't but she has done some similar so she is very open to performing this for us. I can't wait to do it!! It seems like such a romantic addition to the ceremony!
The way it works is:
The bride and groom both write a love letter to each other before the wedding telling the other person why they love them and why they want to marry them. Then the letters are sealed in an envelope and locked in a box during the ceremony. The couple can choose a anniversary to open it on and read the letters or if for some reason the couple comes on hard times and starts to doubt the marriage then they can open it and remind themselves why they are together.
Anyone else planning to do this kind of unity during their ceremony?
