"Jersey Couture" shop sucks

Has anyone else seen this?

In summary, a girls boyfriend (and prom date) died and she wanted to return the dress and thought it might offset funeral costs. The owner Diane Scali wouldn't budge on her "no refunds" policy and made extremely hurtful statements about the girl and her family.

There is a huge facebook group about it called "Boycott Diane & Co - Freehold, NJ" that when I joined last night had maye 2000 fans and now is about 9000.

  • The article won't load for me but that is INSANE that that woman is so careless and insensitive.  People really amaze me sometimes.

  • To be honest, I respect her right as a shop owner to refuse the return.  If that's her store's policy, then fine, and all she had to say was, "I'm sorry, that's our store policy, and I don't change it for anyone."  However, the comments she's made to the press really are nothing short of absurd (they're out of control?  Really?), and the fact that this is a continuing story is ridiculous.  She was heading down to the school with a cop, to "address this problem"?  What the heck is that going to solve, and how???

  • Wow, while I respect her rights to honor her no retrun policy, I don't think that the comments she made were right. The most hurtful one was when she said "It's not my fault he died". While no it's not her fault, it could have been said in a way that wasn't so hurtful.

  • I also respect her rights to honor her return policy but she sounds like a real peach and should not have said half the things she did.

“I didn’t feel they were sincere people in my heart.” - Who is she to judge how sincere she was? I'm sure she was though. She said she wanted to help with funeral expenses, not just return it and forget about his family.

“going down to the school now to address this problem my way.” - Seriously? I agree with PB...what is that going to solve? If anything, it will excalate the problem.
“its not my problem that he died.” - How heartless can you be? Why would you need to say that?

Ugh people make me so irritated sometimes! And about store credits not being transferable...unless their name is on it, which I doubt it is, she'll never know it was sold. She should be happy that she continues to get business after saying such hurtful things.

How nice of that other shop owner to offer her a dress at any point in the future when she's ready to go to another formal event though.
