My mom saw my grandma this past weekend and had brought up our guest list to her to see if there were any extended family we should invite. At one time, she mentioned inviting my great aunt since she'd be in town then anyway. That also meant inviting a couple other relatives that happened to live in the same town. I said I was okay with that since it was only a few people and didn't want to commit any major faux pas even though FI and I's big thing is to have people there that at least one of us knows and wouldn't think were wedding crashers, lol. Also don't just want to have 'bodies' there for the sake of a big party either.
Now grandma says we should invite a few other extended relatives and when my mom mentioned their names, I had absolutely no clue who they were. I don't even remember meeting these people ever in my life. Automatically I think WTF when my mom says we should invite these extra people even though we've always been on the same page about keeping the guest list small for a ton of reasons. Arg.
And of course FI is now wondering if a few of his extended relatives can/should be invited and rightfully so considering what's now come up.
