Is this a good idea or no?

So awhile ago I mentioned that I wanted to get into publishing, but I don't have the experience to get my foot in the door.  

I figured that maybe I could create a blog or website, and that could show off my writing/ editing skills for free.  Since I'm planning a wedding (duh), the easiest thing to do was to a wedding one.  I've started one, but of course it has a ways to go.

Here is the problem.  I'm not sure if this is too "fluffy" of a topic to be put on a resume.  I think the skills would be transferable, but I'm not sure if employers would agree.  My other issue is that since it's a blog, it's personal.  I'm not sure how personal I should get with it (money, family stuff) if I'm going to be putting it on a resume.

Any thoughts or advice on this would be appreciated!
