NWR Ever hear of Vocal Fry?

Fiance was telling me to look up Vocal Fry on Cnn.com. I found this interesting atricle and podcast that I wanted to share with you all.

Re: NWR Ever hear of Vocal Fry?

  • I have never heard of it. I am at work so I can't hear the audio. :( I may know what they are talking about, but not sure.

  • I am going to school for Speech Pathology, and part of what we do is work with voice disorders. Speaking in vocal fry all the time is not only gross sounding, its not healthy for your vocal cords and can lead to nodules (calluses of the vocal cords). Yuck!

  • Ha! I didn't know this was a "thing" I've done this before.  Like when I say "right" sarcastically.

Why would someone who earns millions for their voice, do that when it ruins their vocal cords?! I wonder if they know that? Very interesting!

  • I am also going to school to be a speech pathologist and I agree that is horrible to do to your vocal folds.

  • I saw this on TV the other day.
  • I heard about some research being done about it.  It definitely made take notice of it when I hear it.
