So the last few days I've been having really strange pains when I eat. I've been feeling really crazy-full even though I've trimmed down my portion sizes. Yesterday I had an apple and some peanut butter for lunch and felt like I had eaten a Thanksgiving dinner! The pain lasted for almost 2 hours, plus I had been getting dizzy, so today I called in sick and decided to go to the doctor. My mom mentioned it could be stress related, so I thought I'd tell them that I've been super stressed out lately in case it mattered at all.
The PA I talked to told me that she thinks I'd be well on my way to an ulcer without any treatment. She said it sounds like I've been producing more stomach acid than normal, which is what leads to an ulcer, and that if I continued being really stressed out without taking something that I'd probably end up with an ulcer. I was under the impression that only very old people got ulcers, but guess not!
Anyway they gave me 2 weeks worth of Nexium and said if it still hurts once I stop taking it that maybe I'll need an actual prescription. I'm worried because I don't see how my life will get less stressful in two weeks, if anything it'll be more stressful, but I guess I'll have to wait and see. Anyone have any experience with ulcers or Nexium? This is a totally new realm for me, so if anyone has advice I'd appreciate it.
