I had the most AMAZING time at the national dairy goat show the last few days!
I was there to help my dad show our family herd of LaMancha dairy goats. We actually did fairly well - almost all of our animals placed in the top 20 in their classes, and several were placed in the top 10. I know it doesn't sound so amazing, but we were competing with some of the absolute top herds in the country, with one of the highest quality breeds in the country. We placed exactly where we expected to, and overall my dad & I are really happy with how well we did.
Animals of other breeds who we routinely beat in the ring back home did better than we did in their respective classes, but overall we had an amazing showing. Two of my friends now have reserve junior national champions in their herds, which is absolutely amazing!
The bad news is that the first night I was there, my drivers' side window was smashed and I had a few electronics stolen. I'm pissed - I'd hidden EVERYTHING, wires, etc. I can only guess that they took a shot based on either the rings on my windshield from the suction cup of my GPS, or the fact that I didn't replace the plug on my cigarette lighter. The really annoying thing is that they stole around $500 worth of things, and I have a $500 deductable on my renter's insurance, which is what would cover those posessions.
The other good news though, is that at least they left my car behind! A window is easily replaceable, but the financials of replacing my car is just too much right now, even with insurance.
But....I'm back! I hope you've all had a great weekend & week, and I'll see you all around the boards
